This was my first time using Turo and I was a little apprehensive. Everything worked out perfectly. First of all, Tyson's Cayenne is the nicest SUV on Turo in Portland. It is awesome. The SUV was great. The pickup and drop off were the easiest I've ever had with a rental vehicle. Finally, I just feel better knowing someone like Tyson is getting my money, instead of a big rental company.
We didn't drive the car, we had our own come back but our experience was great the car was great we just didn't need it anymore and so returned it when we picked it up. Thanks Tyson I'm sure it would of drove great!
My first reservation on Turo! Great looking car, not meant for winter conditions. Also, the car did not include ski racks, water bottles, or a hat (as was stated on the listing).
Ahead of my reservation, I emailed Jason (who handles all Turo interaction on behalf of Tyson), and asked how the car handled in the ice/snow and Jason assured me that the car should handle great. This was not the case at all.
As soon as I pulled out of the covered airport parking and onto the road, the car began sliding. I drove very slow and cautiously and after about 20 minutes of sliding around, I decided to safely pull off the road and call Jason and request that I return the car and rent something else. I was told that I couldn't leave it where it was and because of the winter conditions, he couldn't meet me. He asked that I take it back to the airport, which I did not feel safe to do. Luckily, I brought tire chains with me (the Eagle Scout in me is always prepared!). The chains helped immediately but I was limited to 30 mph and a bumpy ride up to Mt. Hood and for the following 3 days. Throughout the course of the rental, I removed and added the chains 5 times based on the current road condition, attempting to limit the amount of time with the chains on as possible. I checked the tires and they are thin, performance tires not intended for ice/snow. Note: Do NOT assume 4WD means it can drive on ice/snow, this just means it can go uphill with more power, but does not replace a car with poor traction.
On day 2 of the rental, the Check Engine light appeared and another light for Check Oil Level. We pulled off, and in fact the engine oil was dangerously low and I had to purchase and add 1 QT of the recommended synthetic oil.
I uploaded images of the lights and the receipt during my trip but have not received any messages about reimbursement or concern, nor have I received a message about our safety after I notified Jason on Day 1 that I would keep the rental and use the chains since I didn't want to lose out on the full amount that I had already paid.
- No ski rack (advertised)
- No bottles of water (advertised)
- No hat (advertised)
- Dangerous on ice/snow (confirmed it would handle well)
- Engine needed service before my rental, oil level was dangerously low
- Heat did not work on the right-half of the car unless the temp was set to MAX, anything less was cold air.
- Looks cool
- Aux cord for audio
- Quick to respond to text + phone calls
My friends and I came to Portland to celebrate my birthday, so naturally we wanted the VIP experience. Our trip couldn't have gone smoother with the oh-so-convenient airport pickup and drop-off. We loved the car's features, specifically being able to use seat warmers in the backseat when it was friggin freezing outside. Thanks for the great car! Would rent again.
The driver was very nice, however 50 min late for our pickup. The GTS was great and had all of the bells and whistles that you would expect from a Porsche. Great car for date night or a night out on the town.
Super accommodating, easy to work with and great communication. Cayenne was awesome! Great vehicle to play tourist through Portland. Would definitely recommend and look forward to possibly renting again.
