Shawn was punctual and always responded quickly. All camping gear was included in the car when we arrived. Communication with Shawn was easy for pick up and delivery. The tent was great and worked fine however, there is really no camping infrastructure on the Big Island. We followed guidelines from Shawn's website and even booked several state park campsites in advance. Upon arrival at these "campsites" there were only homeless people and no campers. We only used the tent once on the nice Volcano park campsite. Instead of using the tent and our camp site reservations for the rest of the Island, we booked AirBNB accommodations instead which made the car-tent and steep campsite reservations fees a waste of money. The car also had the maintenance-light indicator on when we arrived and it smelled bad. Next time I would rent a normal car and book other accommodations instead of trying to camp. Unfortunately the Big Island is not set up for camping. Especially not for a vehicle that has to be driven onto the campsite.
If you want to fully enjoy and above all save is the vehicle for you! Fully equipped for camping (utensils, cooler, 5 gallons of water, propane stove, folding table and chairs, blanket and pillows ...). Despite that there was no air conditioning, I recommend you to safe time! Shawn was not present upon our arrival and departure but everything was precise and perfectly planned. Thank you again, it was a memorable experience on the Big Island!
Shawn has created a great vehicle in which to really explore and enjoy the Big Island! Little details like including sheets and pillows were super cool and really appreciated. I wasn't sure if I really "needed" this type of car, but it was PERFECT for an amazing (but early morning) experience with Kai at Hawaiian Lava Boat Tours. With this awesome car, we were able to park and "camp" right at the boat harbor, and then roll out of bed practically into the boat (compared to the other guy on our boat who left from Kona at 1:30AM!). Thanks Shawn and keep on keeping on!
