THE Land Rover. When this vehicle was built, it was just called the Land Rover 110, because of it's 110" wheelbase, and the fact that it was the only car the company built for ages.
It is said that the Land Rover is the first vehicle seen by most of the world's population. As the expedition vehicle of choice, this isn't hard to believe!
The Defender, as it came to be called, has just ceased production in February of this year-- having been continuously made since 1948! Mine was imported from England, and has the steering wheel on the right ("right!") side--a lot of fun, and very easy to get used to. It is a beautifully analog vehicle to drive, with manual inputs for everything, including A/C (windows and vents) and steering. Be prepared to be noticed-- we regularly look up to find children waving, people with their phones pointing, and it just brightens up the day!
The look, the smells, the sound and every feeling about this car is completely unique. It's unmistakable exterior, and purpose-built interior is a far cry from the cushy SUVs that are common nowadays. If you want to feel like you are in something special, try this!
