My experience with this host was horrible. I called to confirm the trip when I was close to his house and he didn't even know it had been booked. (First red flag) As we were talking on the phone, he decided to ask me if there was going to be any drinking "because it was Saturday night." This was definitely inappropriate and furthermore, I don't drink. (2nd red flag) When I arrived at his house (which was about a 40 minute drive) he came out shortly after. He asked for my driver's license and took pictures of it. He looked at it for a while as if there was an issue. (3rd red flag) Then he started taking pictures of the vehicle, which was fine. Now, he decides to ask if I have full coverage insurance........ This is where I'm really getting irritated. My last Turo trip was quick and painless. No problems at all. It isn't listed anywhere on Turo that you need to bring proof of insurance. And we later spoke to customer service to confirm that that was not proper protocol. Also, you're more than likely being dropped off when you're picking up a "rental" so wouldn't you think that information would be told to you beforehand so that you would come prepared? At this point, I feel as if I've wasted time and gas because he clearly doesn't want to move forward with the trip. All "because I don't have proof of full coverage insurance." He claimed he was hosting the vehicle for his friend and that they told him it wasn't a good idea to rent the car without it. This is ridiculous. I don't feel as if that was the real reason he didn't want to rent the vehicle and I was very displeased with the way things were handled.
