Upon picking up the rental the check engine light, 2 traction control lights, as well as the low tire pressure lights were all on. I asked the host if there was something wrong with the car and he assured me there was not. Fast forward a couple hours as we are driving the car is shaking so bad, does not accelerate when merging on the interstate almost like there’s a misfire in the engine, and does not switch gears when a normal vehicle would. I made the host aware of what was happening and he accused me of just wanting a free trip because this was my first time using Turo. The host also informed me that I was unaware of what I was talking about and that it was normal for a 2008 vehicle to act like this and it’s absolutely not. I can understand road noise because of the type of vehicle, but when idling you should not feel like you are in a semi truck when in fact it’s a gas powered vehicle. You should not feel like you are going to stall out when trying to cross an intersection. This was about the safety of myself and my pregnant girlfriend. Not because we wanted anything free because now, Not only are we out money because we’ve had to rent from somebody else, but it’s taken a whole day away from our already short time with family here to deal with this nonsense. This car needs to be checked by a mechanic before it is rented to anybody else.
