2017 Subaru OutbackTyler's 2017 Subaru Outback with AWD (3)154.59
This was the first time we've tried Turo. I was a little anxious about logistics. In the end it was far more convenient than rental car service. Communication was good, quick follow up. They were very flexible when our travel plans changed and we needed more time with the car. The convenience of not needing to shuttle to the rental place, and get in line was worth a lot. Tyler has a team that from our experience was very on top of things.
Tyler’s Subaru Outback is the perfect car for Colorado! We were out and about the state for 10 days: from the sand dunes to the Black Canyon, from the Broadmoor to fly fishing in the mountains... and then we understood why there are so many 4WD Subarus in Colorado. Delivery and return at the Airport couldn't be more convenient and hassle-free.
Having an AWD Outback (at a great price) in Colorado was awesome. And being able to step out of the airport and find it waiting for you is even better. It even had a first aid kit & ice scraper, along with the ski rack we requested (but didn't know was an extra charge until the day before our trip).
This was a 5-star trip until the last day. We couldn't get dropped off at the airport because no one was actually IN Colorado to help us. Instead we had to park at a hotel 8 miles away and wait for Tyler/Josh/Nisha/Erika - that's right, 4 different people - to order us a Lyft ride. And that ride was 30 minutes late... then wouldn't even take us because there were 4 of us with luggage. Good thing I called my own Uber. If I had known ahead of time this would be the process I would have prepared for it and it would have been fine, but having the convenience of an airport drop-off snatched away from us at the last minute really threw a kink in things.
I know they are working to improve communication and service, so I would most likely ride with them again for a Subaru at such a good price.
I believe we ended up in a slightly different car than the one featured here, but still had a new Subaru Outback. The car was great - AWD, low mileage, satellite radio and bluetooth integration. Only a slight hiccup on the pickup and we were not provided with the ski rack we requested.
Unfortunately, whomever had Tyler's car before we had it beat the crap out it. We got a text from Tyler as we were landing in Denver letting us know there were problems and that he would not rent the car to us as it was not safe to drive. However, Tyler still offered to meet us and drive its to National to rent another car. Compounding the issue, there was a bit of a billing issue where our trip was still charged even though we never used the car. Both Tyler and Turo dug into the problem and fixed the issue. So, even though my first experience with both Tyler and Turo didn't work out as expected, they both worked hard to make sure that I was happy in the end crediting us for the erroneous charge. In addition, Turo gave us a credit for any future rentals. Can't say enough about how important communications are when there are issues. I had 3 different people from Tyler's team proactively contacting us about our issues and how they were were tacking them. Additionally, Maria from Turo support was awesome. Can't tell you how mad I was and how quick she solved my issue. So, at the end of the day, even though it did not work out for us, I will 100% rent from Tyler and Turo next year when we go to Steamboat to ski. Hat's off to Tyler and Turo!
