« Battery Charging - Tesla Supercharger »
This vehicle is Supercharger enabled so you can charge for free at the various Tesla Supercharger stations throughout the country. Tesla Superchargers offer the fastest charging and is the recommended method of charging during your trip. No adapters are needed when using Superchargers, simply open the charge port and plug the supercharger to start charging. Since the charging terminal is located in the rear of the car, you will need to back the car into the station for proper reach. The typical charging time is roughly 45min to get to 80% capacity, which is enough juice to get you to the next charging station or your final destination.
« Battery Charging - Other Chargers »
The Model X will come equipped with a mobile charging kit that includes adapters to fit various plugs used in public charging facilities; J1772, CHAdeMO, NEMA 14-50, and standard home NEMA 5-15 outlet adapter. I will provide a ChargePoint keycard which you can use to unlock any public chargers running under the ChargePoint system. Please note that some ChargePoint chargers will incur a fee. You will be responsible for all fees from using the ChargePoint card, which will be billed to your account at the end of your trip through Turo. Please remember to return the charging kit into the trunk when you are done charging. The cost to replace a mobile charging kit is $550, not including the individual adapters which range from $45 to $450 for the CHAdeMO adapter. The fee for lost or missing ChargePoint card is $20.
« Range & Range Anxiety »
The estimated EPA range for a fully charged battery in this vehicle is 230 Miles. Personally, I get about 200 miles, but I have a heavy foot and I always have the AC on full blast. Your mileage may vary. If you are going on a long trip, it is recommended to use the Model X's on-board navigation system. The car is smart enough to map out a route to your destination while factoring in Supercharging locations, distance, altitude, and your driving style to insure that you won't get stranded. You may utilize Tesla's roadside assistance, which covers you during your trip, as well as Turo's roadside options should something were to happen.
