The Honda Element will be at the LAX Turo Lot behind the Custom Hotel on the second floor of the parking structure. Just call 310-227-6998 when you get to baggage claim. The Custom Hotel Shuttle will pick you up and take you to the hotel. The lot is open from 6am to 10pm so it allows for significant flexibility in pick ups or drop offs, if your flight is early or late. Hope you have a great visit. Jim
Jim's Honda Element was a great car for us. We drove it to multiple cities on our week-long trip to the LA area and it performed well. Just be aware that it is well-used. This did not bother us because we are used to driving older cars, but others could feel differently. That being said, the price was fair and mechanically the car performed great. We would rent the car again.
Jim was super accommodating in terms of drop off and pick up. I had no problems with the car, it was actually great to drive. Kind of hard to park but a great turn radius and smooth accel. Couldn't be happier w my first turo rental. And the price is unbeatable.
I guess the saying you get what you pay for is true. My friends and I decided to go the cheap route to save money, but we didn't enjoy the car at all. The car drove horrible. The alignment was off and the steering wheel shook really bad. It was scary to drive on the highway. The car was also messy and had a bad odor. If you want to enjoy your trip, I highly recommend spending the money and getting something nice.
Jim's Honda Element was overall a good rental experience! The only downsides were that it was not made clear at the time of booking that the car would be at a lot located 10-15 minutes from the airport, and that I would have to take a hotel shuttle that is only guaranteed to come every 45 minutes. After you land and get to baggage claim, you're supposed to text in your terminal location and the shuttle will be scheduled to head your way. Same thing with drop off-- you need to budget a lot of time because drop off may take some time for check out, and again, the shuttle only runs on a 45-min schedule. It did not seem like I could make a request for the shuttle to go back to the airport from the Turo lot so it was just dependent on their schedule. I chose this rental car based on its convenience of having the car at the airport, but it turned out to be at a lot near the airport instead. Depending on rental prices, it may be more worthwhile to rent a car with pickup near the airport and take an uber to and from the rental location rather than wasting time waiting for a shuttle. Otherwise though, the rental went well. The car drove well and felt safe. My only other complaints were cleanliness, as the car was fairly dirty and had a lot of spare change and miscellaneous items around. The sun roof also did not work and there was a note saying not to open it. This problem was not mentioned in the listing, but did not bother me too much. Overall, the rental was still a good value. I would just warn others to plan ahead and budget at least ~1.5 hours for pick up and ~1.5 hours for drop off, unless you are okay with taking an Uber to/from the airport to the Custom Hotel parking lot. You can call the Custom Hotel shuttle number to inquire about their shuttle schedule and plan ahead for your trip back to the airport after returning the car, and they will give you the shuttle times for the day. However, just be warned that the times may not be accurate as the shuttle arrived 15 minutes later than the quoted time, so just budget a lot of extra time or if not, be prepared to have to call an Uber!
Jim's car was great basic transportation, and what can you ask for, for the price? Car ran well, it got us around the LA area just fine. I think as a suggestion it would be good to make sure it is clean inside and outside. The car is showing some age as far as the otuside is concerned, with runs of something down the trim, pretty much all the way around the car. Plus, there were some pretty noticeable dents in the front left fender, not on the side but on the top, not sure what that was casued from. I think Jim knows about these things but it is a bit concealed by the way the photos are taken. Also, there was a bag with some clothes left in the car, I think from the last renter, not sure, and it had a personal note in the bag for Jim. This wasn't a bad thing but it indicated someone didn't really look it over and clean it up before renting it out again. But, again, I say, "Hey", for the price it was reliable wheels.
