Kevin was friendly and offered to drop off and pick up his X5 from two different places. Unfortunately he was 36 mins late for a drop off at my office in Downtown LA. This would not have been a problem if it was just me but I had family I needed to pick up from LAX. Kevin was in constant contact during this time but could not provide us with an ETA as his GPS was constantly changing arrival times. Once he arrived we went over the basics and he showed me a 3'' crack in the windscreen which he said he did not have time to repair. The car was also slightly dusty inside and the outside had not been washed.
Once we had our passengers seated in the back we had another problem, the rear-left side seatbelt buckle did not work. We had to stop in a parking lot outside of LAX to investigate the issue. I called Kevin immediately but spoke to a friend of his as it seemed he did not understand what I was trying to tell him. She had to translate for him. I told her that we would have to return the vehicle. She said he would refund me if it still does not work after he comes over to show us how the seatbelt worked. At that moment one of my passengers figured out that inserting and wiggling the metal tongue into the buckle several times would eventually make it click-in. We tugged on the seatbelt a couple of times to make sure it stayed-put, however this did not inspire much confidence in the safety of the vehicle. For the remainder of trip the issue with the seatbelt buckle persisted.
The X5 was also due for a service. Had we driven it for the full 1500 included miles the service interval would have been exceeded.
Nevertheless after the initial issues we experienced, the rest of the X5 performed as expected and we enjoyed the panoramic sun roof immensely. If Kevin has the windscreen crack fixed and the seatbelt buckle replaced you should have no problems renting his X5.
Kevin is great, super nice and quick responding to messages and calls. The vehicle came in perfect condition with a full tank of gas. It's also great on gas since its an eDrive. It was a great experience renting from Kevin and his vehicle is beautiful!
