This was my first experience with Turo so keep that in mind.
The Good: The booking process was fast and easy. Communication with the owner of the vehicle was easy and responses were prompt. The vehicle was as pictured.
The Bad: I was expecting to meet the owner or owner's representative at pickup and drop off to verify any anomalies with the vehicle (dents/scratches). Rather the vehicle was left in a Long Term Credit Card parking lot for me to locate with my luggage and find the key under the mat. I had to start my rental with an unexpected $8 parking fee to pay.
Additionally, the day before pickup I was advised that I would have to refuel the van with Premium gas and that gas should be 0% ethanol, and that I should google for a gas station that sells that type of gas. That was an unusual request.
At the end of my rental, once again there was no one to return the vehicle to so they could confirm we returned it in the same condition we started. Rather I was advised to return it to the long term lot again and leave the keys under the mat. What if the car was stolen after I left it there? What if someone ran into it in the parking lot? Would I have been held liable? This was rather disconcerting.
Besides the pickup/drop off situation and the fuel request, all else was great. The van ran perfectly and was clean inside. The USB cords left in the armrest along with the USB charging outlets made it convenient to use the navigation features of my phone without killing my battery. All in all it was a good experience using Turo for the first time.
