Manny and his wife are amazing! This was our first experience with Turo and it went off without any problems. Extending was easy thru the app. The vehicle was dropped off at our home rite at the specified time and as descibed. Couldn't ask for better service or people. If you find one of this couples vehicles you should rent from them, you won't be disappointed. Aloha
Thanks to Jessica and her van, our trip in Oahu was a blessing. We are a group of five with a 12-year-old boy, and we have five carry on bags and one big bag, everything fitted neatly in the van. The ride was smooth and quite, and we paid 37$ for gas over 260 miles, with a full load. We are very happy about the MPG. Jessica even lend us a USB charger and a charging cable. We had to change our departure flight from afternoon to 7:40 am, Jessica was very nice and accepted our request right away. And met us in the airport at 6:30 am. I hope our next visit to Oahu could be with Jessica as well. Thank you Jessica!
We have rented 4-5 other vehicles on Turo before and our experience has always been very positive and nothing but excellent. Unfortunately, this particular experience was not the same. While we understand they are been careful and detail-oriented in trying to inspect the car prior and after our usage. They took way many more pictures, paperwork, signature, check ID, etc...and the whole process took much longer than any other rentals we had ever done with Turo. Which unfortunately felt almost like going to a Budget-Rent-A-Car. But what really stressed us out, our entire family of 5, and painful for me to give this a 1-star rating is what happened at the tail-end of trip. In the morning our departure day, I contacted them, both via Turo messaging and phone, to ask if we can return the car about 1-hour prior to the original plan, at 12:30pm. The reason being, we were told by the concierge at our hotel that Honolulu airport will have two separate security lines, one for TSA and the other by Dept of Agriculture which may prolong our boarding process. Manny, the owner, agreed via phone to meet us between 11:15-11:30 at a parking lot near the airport. I also told him I will call him as soon as we leave the hotel. As soon as we got into the van and about to head to the parking lot my cell phone rang and it was Manny. He asked if I was there. Perplexed and confused by his agreed tone of voice, I said I'm sorry but we are just about to leave now. Looking down at my watch it was, 11:17AM, still within the time I communicated to him but GPS said we may arrive there about 5 minutes later than I planned so I profusely apologized to Manny for being a bit late as I'm traveling with an elderly and a small infant. Very difficult to get the time frame down to be exact. And for some reasons, Manny just lost it. He thought I was playing some kind of games with him and kept yelling "are you kidding me?!" 2-3x then he proceeded to hang up on me. Needless to say, that pretty much just ruined our non-stressful vacation in Hawaii and drove my blood pressure off the roof and I was flabbergasted by his knee-jerk reaction on the phone. So I rushed and drove as fast as I possibly could while still keeping safety and a baby-on-board in mind to the parking lot. When I arrived, I was still about 5 minutes late. Many obviously was still mad so I apologized again to him and tried my best to explain the situation. He somewhat brushed it off and still took his time to go over the car inspection process and took many pictures, forgetting we want need to get to the airport ASAP. Or maybe he was too focused on being mad and/or "being played on" he forgot the original reason why I asked him we needed to return the car sooner than planned. Again, the car return process with Manny felt like a Budget-Rent-A-Car experience in a parking lot if not worse.
We use Turo because we like the hassle-free, line-free, flexibility, excellent customer service, friendly one-on-one interaction with the car owners, but unfortunately this was not the case. We got yelled at and hung up on. WTF?! HUH?! OMG! SMH! What happened?! were some of the remarks our made while driving to the location. In saying all that, I have to give Manny some credits for he did shake my hand after dropping us off at the airport curbside and he said "I'm sorry" but unfortunately by that time, my stress-level and blood pressure was already off the roof.
Areas of improvement/suggestions:
1. Friendlier customer service
2. Less Assumptions
3. Respect others as they respect you
4. People going to Hawaii is looking to relax not stress out more
5. Spend less time on paperwork and taking pictures of the car's current condition
6. Listen and read. Don't yell and hang up on your customers.
Everything went just as expected if Not better. Very reliable. Igor was a great help. I highly recommend it and will keep in mind to rent from Igor again next time I come to Oahu. No issues encountered whatsoever.
What a great way to get around and save some money! Manny(Igor) is a wonderful individual and made the pick-up at arrival very simple, and the departure as well. He was very accomodating, friendly and trustworthy. There were no surprises. Mahalo Manny
Manny (Igor) and his wife were so friendly and accommodating. Their Toyota Sienna van was really clean and in perfect condition - only had 6200 miles on it! They met us at the airport and we went to a close parking lot to fill out the paperwork. Same thing for return - met them at the parking lot then switched off at the airport. They also just bought a new Prius that the are listing on Turo. Great people - great cars. I high recommend booking them
It was a great experience renting this excellent Toyota Sienna from Jessica and Manny. They are exceptionally nice people to deal with, and provided us great local advise. Particularly appreciated their flexibility for picking up their Van from the airport at short notice.
Fantastic experience for renting this car from Manny and Jessica. They are really nice people to deal with. Every flexible when scheduling pick up and drop off. Communication is easy and friendly. The car is almost brand new wirh super low mileage. Our whole family enjoy our trip very much wirh the car.
