I placed a rental for a Dodge Caravan from Christhain Luciano on the dates Wednesday April 5th 2017 to Monday April 10th 2017. Before reserving the rental I called Turo's customer service and explained I would be taking a road trip and asked about the conditions of the cars as this is my first time renting a car from their app. The representative assured me your company checks the cars monthly and only accepts rentals in functioning condition and that I would not have any issues. The rental I received was a complete disappointment and I cannot believe your company would allow this vehicle to pass any inspections. The vehicle was in extremely poor condition and a hazard to the health of all of our passengers. I have compiled a list of issues.
-The AC barely cools the car -When the AC runs there is a smell of coolant. All of the passengers got lightheaded from the smell and one passenger had a nosebleed on the last day of our trip. - A cockroach came out the ac vent -Front right wheel starts to shake when driving on the expressway -The engine makes a whirring sound - There is a lug nut missing on each back back wheels - The check engine light was on when the car was received -There is some sort of leak on the passenger side under the dashboard - The gas mileage states the car is 17 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg on the streets, this was not the case as the muffler had issues and ended up consuming much more gas. Being on a road trip as I had stated previously made this a huge issue. -The mechanisms for the trunk were not functioning, so the trunk would not hold open. -The door don't lock automatically and we were given a key without a remote. - There was no windshield washer fluids for the windshield wipers - The CD player doesn't work because there is a CD stuck inside - The license plate is being held on by one screw.
These issues are completely unacceptable. When I let Christhiano know about the coolant and he said he already knew about the issue and would fix it for the next renter. I will attach a screenshot of our conversation. If he knew there was issue with the car he should have fixed them beforehand. I don't believe this rental should have costed the same price as a rental from any other legitimate rental company would have costed and been in such poor condition. While on the trip I called customer service to find a resolution. I spoke to a representative named Mark (agent #1700323) whom said we would have to file a claim and most likely receive a full refund. If I could give the Turo App a negative five star rating I would but one star will have to do. I would not recommend any family member or friend to give any business to this app.
