Pretty much the best price you can find, but it's just basic transportation, as the car has no remote door locks, no cruise control, and is a basic entry level Corolla. The car was dirty when I got it, and the engine light was on.
That being said, Edward is very good with communication, and seems quite flexible.
Had trouble getting a hold of Edward day of rental. The instructions sent to me for entering the car needed updating. But, in the end he called and cleared things up. I lost and hour or so. I think it was a little slip up. He seems in general to be very attentive.
I would use him again.
Recommendation to anyone using Turo. Make phone contact to renter a couple days before rental. Just to establish communication, and make a verbal reminder of rental dates.
I put about 1100 miles on the car over five days, and I felt very confident in the car despite going up and down tight, and steep Appalachian back highways. Edward keeps her car well maintained inside and out, and I was impressed by the great highway mileage (~30 miles/gallon!!!). The pickup location was conveniently located near a Metro station and in an area with free parking. Edward could have been a little more punctual, but I completely understand how life around the holidays can get us all out of sorts. I'd rent Edward's Corolla again anytime! Thanks Ed :)
Edward left the car exactly where he stated and it was ready well before the time I indicated, which was a convenience. The car was very clean and ran perfectly. This was a great first experience with Turo!
Excellent communication (immediate response via text or call). Easy access from the IAD airport via metro and it's a safe walk from the station. Car charger cables (iphone 4 and 5, and droid cables) were even included. Great rates and couldn't ask for an easier first Turo experience!
Rented Ed's car this past weekend. Overall it was a good experience. I was a little anxious when getting the car because Ed's message talks about a lockbox and that the code will be texted, but Turo just said to start the rental with a text. But, after finding the car, texting RR, and finding the key it was easy. Finding parking when returning the car was a little difficult too. The car ran well, but has its share of bumps and bruises. Good gas mileage.
Ed was amazing. He was patient and didn't get annoyed with me one bit with my constant texts with my confusion. Like most of the reviewers, this was my first rental with Turo and I can't say enough about this car owner. I took the car from DC to Cincinnati Ohio and back and it didnt give me one bit of trouble and the gas on it was great. The renter provides car chargers for just about every popular phone out there and goes out of his way to please and make everything easier for the person renting his car. Overall I give him a 10/10 and would def. recommend using this car if you are looking for something quick or even a long get away from the DC area!
This weekend 11-16-2012 thru 11-19-2012 I had the car. OMG i loved it. Edward is the best. He helps in every way that he can. He has NO problems with answering the phone and keeping in touch if you need him. I constantly called and he never got mad. He was very pleasant. The rate on the car was perfect. I am a young female and money sometimes can be hard to come bye, but because of the rental rate i got to enjoy not one but three days of the rental. It was clean, smooth driving , and was very inexpensive on gas. I just want to THANK YOU SO MUCH EDWARD !! p.s i will be renting shortly because the holidays are coming soon.
Edward is a wonderful Turo car host. If visiting the Washington area, or you live near DCA - his car is easy a nice alternative to traditional car rentals. Edward goes out of his way to ensure the pick-up and drop-off process is easy. A+++
Turo to the Rescue! :) We've rented from Ed several times and he's a great car host offering his Corolla or Camry at a much more reasonable price than a traditional car rental company. He's fast to respond, friendly and really goes out of his way to make the renter feel comfortable and to accommodate them as much as possible.
Our one criticism is that Turo should implement a gps system so that finding a car like Ed's (conveniently parked at DCA but due to lack-of-details, or completely incorrect information, from prior guest regarding where they parked - can make finding Ed's Corolla akin to the proverbial needle in a hay stack). So the ease with picking up the car is only as good, or as reliable, as the previous renter. If they're a space cadet and give vague or completely incorrect information about where they parked you could be searching forever.
Note to Renters: When parking in the economy lot it's almost useless to just say you parked in section B2. Some of the parking sections are 10 or 12 rows deep and wide. You need to give more info like section B2 so-many-rows-away-from Shelter #?, or along the roadway, 10 cars down from the guard booths at the entrance. If you are parking in short term parking lots B or C you need to know what level and section. If you give the wrong level - it's not fun for the next renter and I speak from experience. This does not detract from the overwhelming fact that Ed is a wonderful host. But the system as it currently operates, and with a car pick-up/drop-off being in a large parking lot/garage like Ed's Corolla, is only as good as the last renter.
We have our fingers and toes crossed that Turo will be implementing a gps system very soon!
Even with a few hiccups, we will be renting from Ed again. And when on the west coast, intend to use Turo in beautiful sunny Los Angeles! :) Thank you Turo and much thanks to Ed for sharing his car with us.
Like many of the reviewers of this car it was my first time using Turo. Working with Ed and renting his car for a weekend was flawless. His communication, timeliness, helpfulness and ease made the experience perfect. His price range is the best deal not only on Turo but renting a car from any service in the DC metro area. If you need a car for any amount of time from an hour to a weekend or more i would recommend renting here first!
Ed is a terrific Turo host. He's quick to respond to emails, calls, texts and seems to be a genuinely super nice guy. His Toyota Camry is well maintained and an excellent ride. I highly recommend Ed's Toyota Camry for location and price you cannot do any better.
Note to anyone using Metro on weekends to pick up Ed's Camry: Just a reminder that even if Metro is working on the yellow line it's still easy to get to DCA. Metro has shuttles from near by metro stations directly to the airport. From Pentagon City it took an additional 5 or 6 mins to DCA than normal.
Since this car is being picked up at an airport it's very important for renters to know the details of where they parked and pass this info along to Ed. The previous renter gave wrong info regarding the level they were parked on and it took me quite some time to find the car. Ed was very nice about it and even offered to pay for me to rent from a traditional rental company at the airport. Luckily, I found his Camry parked on a different level than prior renter's instructions.
So far that's the only negative I've encountered on my 2nd rental. We like RR and Ed so much we're renting his Camry next weekend. I encourage anyone who needs wheels in the DC area to give Turo a try.
Rented this vehicle to use as we looked for a new car, and it was a great experience. Couldn't say enough positive things about it - accommodating, polite, and really helped us out when we needed an inexpensive way to get around for a few days. Totally recommend this car, and the owner!
This was a fantastic car renting experience! The owner couldn't have been nicer, and was very accommodating. I would totally rent from him again. Wonderful car, prompt replies, and great gas mileage. For my first time renting from Turo, I'd say this was a home-run.
This was our first time getting a car through Turo and it was so nice to have a car to take a weekend trip out of the city! Edward was a great person to work with -- he was quick to return my messages and he left very detailed, easy-to-follow instructions on how to locate the car when we first started out. The car itself was in great working condition, and the interior was very clean and was totally free of any stains or odors. It was a superb experience and I would be very happy to work with Edward and Turo again!
Ed was super easy to communicate with and very nice about my having to contact him two or three times because I had been unable to make the rsv the first two times I tried and then again when we decided we'd like to keep the car for an extra day. Although it was a little annoying having to contact RR customer service to both book and extend our rsv - Ed was quick to respond to my emails/texts which made our first RR rental an enjoyable experience The pick up and drop off is easy even if you rarely use Reagan Airport parking. Ed's directions are clear and precise. His Camry is well maintained and is a pleasant ride. We fit 4 people for site seeing. Considering Ed's price and that insurance is included - he's offering the best deal in town. :) We will definitely be calling on Ed and Turo in the near future. We cannot thank Ed enough for making our friend's visit cool, comfortable, as well as, affordable.
I was leerier at first not sure if the car would be there, this was the first time I used this site. This is the only way I would rent a car from now on. I highly recommend (DCA). I will continue to rent frm him.
It was my first time trying Turo and I am very happy that Edward was the person I contacted. He made the whole transaction effortless he was also very nice. I was having a hard time getting to him with traffic and when I called he was still very pleasant. He also replied very speedily to the request. Thanks,Edward!
Overall, it was very hassle free, unlike the traditional rental car dealers and their additional fees and requirements.
This was my first rental and I had a great experience with this car and owner. I ran into an issue with renting a car from a rental company at the DCA airport (Iâ??m 24, I have an out of state license and a debit card) after picking up my friend who was visiting from California. I was bummed because we had planned to do all the tourist attractions, nightclubs, etc. in 3 days, which was impossible without a car. I ended up cabbing it the first day and then found Turo and requested a reservation late that night for the next day and was approved by 8am the next day for a 12pm reservation. I requested to have the car left at a metro station and it was there on time. I was provided with easy and detailed instructions on finding the car. Edward and his Toyota Corrolla were the life savers to my best friendâ??s vacation weekend.
