This is an all electric Nissan Leaf. It gets 50 miles on a full charge, so if you are running around town rent this beauty and you will not be buying gas. The pickup and drop of are at a central downtown location and I provide a paid subscription to use any of the EVGO chargers in town as well as a 120 volt charger you can use with any standard plug.
The car does not have an engine and does not make any external noise when it is starting. One renter continued to insist the car was not starting, you just need to be aware that it does not make any noise.

The car drives awesome and it's a nice experience to drive an EV. Very quiet and it has a lot of torque when you press the "gas". BUT, the problem with this particular Leaf is that is doesn't have a quick charge (ChadeMo) DC port. Only Level 1/2 (J1772) port. So you have to keep in mind that. You have to plan your trip very well and expect to spend a couple of hours at the charging station, instead of 20 minutes if it had the charging port
Chris kindly let me use his EVgo keyfob to charge it on the EVgo network and left me his 120v charger and thanks to that I was able to charge it overnight but it was complicated for not having the quick charge port.
I give the car a star and that's about it. Never met James, talked to Chris maybe twice, and Brent was not easy to get in touch with, even when the car wouldn't start. I would not recommend renting this car to anyone ever. You will pay $132 to park a car in your driveway for a night. Very disappointing to say the least.
Great rental overall. Car is in excellent condition, and except for the quiet engine to get used to, drives great with quick acceleration and excellent handling whether on eco- or regular mode. It really is zero-emissions.
James/Chris were great about communications and responsiveness to all inquiries, and super nice. From the first meeting, Chris lent me an evGo key fob for charging station network access. After a flat tire, Chris also graciously and very quickly arranged for towing and covered replacement and alignment of all four new tires with his dealership. Chris was also very kind about a scratch that someone unfortunately left me in a public parking lot.
The limited range of the Leaf is somewhat challenging in Houston, but with good planning and the GPS feature for finding nearby charging stations, this can work well for a lot of needs (i.e. if staying for short daily commutes in Houston) and I was pleasantly surprised by how it worked for my long-term rental.
Awesome experience! Chris was wonderful to rent from - what an excellent way to get the feel for an all electric vehicle. Chris walked me through the basics; the rest was a breeze. I learned to be mindful of charging stations and the vehicles range. Highly recommend Chris and his Nissan Leaf!
