The Leaf is a fully electric car. NOT a hybrid! :) This means, it will zip around town really well, but isn't suited for long term trips, unless you want to stop at a charging station! The range between charges is about 90 miles.
The Leaf has a toll tag for those who want to travel faster.
When you rent the car, I will give you a card that will give you FREE access to all chargers, including the one that will charge the car in 20 minutes. Download the Plugshare app to get started seeing where the charging stations are in the metroplex.
The car also comes with a charger that will plug into a regular wall outlet, if you're wanting to keep it overnight. It is required that both of those are returned, or there will be an additional fee.
To return park, simply pull into the drive way. Leave the charge cable in the car. Leave the charge card on the dash. Lock the door, and return the key into the mail slot in the door! Simple.
Pets are welcome! (Please keep smaller animals crated for their safety) NO smoking! If you have questions charging, call or text me! Car does NOT need to be returned fully charged
The RFID card must be returned - penalty will be assessed without it. The Charger must be returned - penalty will be assessed without it.
How do you charge the electric car?
There are multiple ways.
The charger in the car - this cord is basically an extension cord, and you can plug it into the same plug that you plug your lamp in to. To charge, turn the Nissan key fob over and push the HOLD button. The lid to the charger will open on the front of the car. Go to the front of the car, and open the ORANGE cap. Plug in the cord to a wall charger, and plug in your charger to the car. This charge will take about 12 hours to reach 90 miles. (Best to use this when going to sleep!)
To charge at a station: Use the card provided, and wave in front of the RFID reader. the Station will beep and turn GREEN. Choose the type of charger you want. For the FAST charger, choose the 510 WATT. (the big one)
Unplug the charger like you would a normal gas nozzle. Push the HOLD button on the Nissan key fob. Plug in to the BLACK charger. (Don't worry, you can't mess up the chargers. The plugs won't fit!) Push CHARGE on the station. The car will beep and then you will see the blue lights flashing. The station will confirm that the car is charging. This charge will finish a 90 mile trip in 20 minutes.
To charge using the other plug, choose the 220. Unplug the charger like you would a normal gas nozzle. Push the HOLD button on the Nissan key fob. Plug in the ORANGE plug. (Don't worry, you can't mess up the chargers. The plugs won't fit!) Push CHARGE on the station. The car will beep and then you will see the blue lights flashing. The station will confirm that the car is charging. This charge will finish a charge that will go 90 miles in 2 hours. (These are found in front of Kohls, Tesla, and other high end shopping centers.)
2015 Nissan LeafAmy's electric leaf15514
The car was great. Amy was even better teaching me about the car and replying to me anytime I had any questions. Next time I'm in town I'll be sure to use Turo and more importantly I'll go through Amy again if her car is available.
Perfect rental. This was my first experience with an electric car and it was a perfect first experience thanks to Amy. Amy definitely made sure I was comfortable with the car and was available via text for questions. The car is clean, fun to drive (even on eco mode, it really moves!), and was a perfect car for the metroplex. No gas cost is fantastic too! I will rent this car again from Amy when back in Fort Worth.
Quick to respond to messages/texts. It was my first time using turo and Amy made it easy for me 👍🏽. She even showed me all the controls in her electric car and made sure i was comfortable driving it and knowing how to charge it before I left.
