Bami was nice. Although the car I had originally picked got into an accident, he was able to get me into another vehicle of his. Which I appreciated. However, the car in which I got instead had worse gas mileage and was really dirty on the inside. I was really quite taken with how dirty it was. Dirt on the floor, ash on the dash board, the drivers side sun panel was literally being held up by a bobby pin. Not really thrilled that I could've gotten a spotless car for about the same price with a rental company. It also was misaligned and pulled to the right, and after driving a couple hundred miles, it got to me. City driving was fine, but long highway trips, I'll pass.
Overall, the trip went well. Car worked fine the entire time, and it was nice to have a chance to try a Prius, which I've wanted to do. The pickup took quite a bit longer than expected. Olabamigbe needed a ride home from the airport, and I had agreed to take him home. However, neither of us realized how bad the traffic would be, so it took quite a while to finally be on my way.
On the return, traffic was again bad, so I had to wait in the Cell Phone lot at the airport. However, that lot only leads to Arrivals, so I had to circle the entire airport in order to get to Departures. Just keep that in mind if you end up needing to wait at the airport.
Overall communication with Olabamigde was great. However status and reliability of car for my trip was subpar. I needed a car in a pinch so I requested it for same day pickup in the evening, and request was approved quickly - in hindsight I wish it hadn't been.
When I picked up car, it was in a bit more rough condition than in listing photos. ie: body damage and serious dings not shown in listing photos. Picked up car with tire pressure light on already that evening - woke up to a flat tire next morning. Nail in tire which I had to get fixed at my expense. Communicated this and status of other tires to Bami that morning because another tire looked pretty sketchy. Sure enough, before the end of my trip the other tire completely came off the wheel while I was on the road to drop car off. Spare in trunk was also underinflated so that didn't help. Was in communication with owner during this time, but basically was told to get Turo roadside assistance to handle it and take it to a tire shop for repair (even though it was after business hours and most shops were already closed.) Of course would be at my expense also, but that he'd reimburse me.
Turo roadside assistance took over half an hour to answer. By the time they picked up I (luckily) already had AAA on the way. Thankfully they were able to inflate the donut in trunk and I was able to drive the 8 miles to drop off to owner.
Overall a major headache to deal with this car. Bami mentioned he hadn't had a chance to inspect / clean car before it had just been dropped off that day before my request. Had I known this, I wish the request had just been denied off the bat and I hope in the future, he thinks about the safety of vehicle and future passengers vs the $ off a rental.
Only positive I can think of regarding car was that it was great on gas while operational. Bami was great and super friendly.
This was my second experience with Turo and it was night and day in comparison. Would suggest to owner that he take upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness and overall appearance and safety of vehicle more into consideration in the future.
I will definitely be inspecting tires more closely on future rentals, along with status of spares in vehicles. Lesson learned.
