Why use gasoline when you can drive a 100% electric vehicle. My all-electric Nissan LEAF is great for running errands and other short trips. 75+ mile range, slightly varied by speed and driving style. It's not all-purpose. You won't be driving to Pittsburgh without stopping to charge, but the car is clean, fun, and quiet. Even though the range is limited, you can drive it as far as you'd like as far as I'm concerned. If you need to go farther than about 65 miles, expect to stop for a bit to charge. I'd be happy to help with planning and mapping out charging for where you need to go.
