Simple smart car for touring portland. Easy to park, perfect for the city. Room for the groceries and suit cases. It is efficient on gas mileage and available downtown. I have bike storage, if you want to stash your bike during your rental.
Car will be delivered, but a ride home downtown is expected. The uber to and from the airport is 24$.
Please use premium gas only. I have a friend who has a house to rent on Airbnb if you would like a link. Just let me know. No smoking.
It was a fine experience renting this car. I'll just say that I understand why the rate is to rent is low though it worked out for what my needs were. Though I did see the A/C issue in the previous comments, I was hoping it would be fixed since there was nothing noting that in the profile. The car had a jolting thing happening for the time I was using it. This may be a thing with smart cars because I've never driven one but it did make me a bit nervous. I also had to drive around for a bit to wait for the garage to open because in returning the car, chris informed me that he lost the garage key. Good thing I gave myself extra time to return otherwise that could have been an issue.
Okay..so two reviews here. First Chris was easy to communicate with, it was easy to pick up and drop off the car, and the rental was cheap. Bonus that we made the reservation very last minute (same day!)..that worked out well. Second, the car. I know that this review isn't supposed to be about the car itself, so consider this a little insight about it. We rented the Smart car. Warning, this car does NOT have working A/C. This may be okay for the majority of the year here in Portland, but the day we rented it was 99 degrees, so not having A/C was rough. However, to be fair, Chris didn't mention that the car had A/C either, so I can't fault him for misinformation. But come on, it's 2017, I didn't think that it even needed to be said, I figured all cars have it (and that it works). The car looks like it's seen better days and was a bit dirty inside, but we could easily see past that. The only plus for this car is the size. No problems with parking, we managed to always find a tiny patch of shade to park the car in, which helped with the no A/C thing. Overall, i would recommend renting from Chris no problem, however, I wouldn't rent the Smart car again.
car was amazing on gas, it was fun t drive such a small car. definitely doesn't drive like it deserves premium gas, more like a go cart but it was cool experience. Chris doesn't answer his phone or meet in person which can be a little irritating if something is urgent. It was not a bad experience though
Car drove great and Chris communicated well in advance to let me know how to get the keys. I rented the car on one of the hottest days only to find out that the air conditioning was not working. It would have been better if that issue had been noted in the vehicle description.
Renting the car was a breeze. However, the AC not working made for a very hot weekend. The car has very low mileage, so I'm assuming Chris had no idea of the issue. I think I averaged around 55 MPG over the long weekend! The car is fun to drive, but I think I would rather drive a stickshift around Oregon. This was my first time using TURO, and definitely not my last. -Thanks again Chris
Chris was kind enough to accommodate my very-last-minute booking request and he made the pickup and drop off process clear and simple. The car itself is a great little smart car - very clean and fun to drive, with a USB adapter to charge your phone. Thank you, Chris!
Chris's smart car was great! Super good gas mileage, fun to drive! Chris had wonderful communication - pickup and drop-off were super simple. I was 15 minutes late dropping off due to trying (unsuccesfully) to vacuum the car at the Shell station ($2.00 in quarters - who has that?). Chris was understanding of the situation and appreciated my effort. Would definitely rent again!!
