Tesla Model X 2017
This Tesla Model X 90D is a great car. It is well built, feels safe, and works better than most other luxury class vehicles. I previously rented a Model S 90D on Turo and also had a great experience. The Model X is a much more advanced vehicle. This particular Model X is nice, my kids loved it, and I had a good experience in driving it.
Since this is a rental forum, the next commentary is more for those of us who don't normally drive electric cars. Getting used to charging an electric vehicle takes some getting used to, but Bill provided the charge cable with a variety of connections. You may need one or all of the converter modules depending on where you try to charge. All charge methods are pretty slow (about 2 miles per hour of charge at 110, or 12 miles per hour of charge at 220) unless you are able to get to a Supercharger station in Woodburn or Sandy (which charges the car in an hour). Since I had both cars for an extended time (insurance company is refusing to fix my damaged vehicle after being hit by a commercial truck) charging at a house without a 220 connection in the garage became an ongoing concern. Make sure you plan accordingly, because I did run into problems getting a sufficient charge both with the Model S and the Model X. I ended up driving to Woodburn several times to get a full charge to minimize range anxiety. There really is no way to keep the car sufficiently charged using only the 110 connection unless you are driving very short distances.
I understand that Tesla is installing more superchargers in the Portland metro area, and this will help those of us without a 220 outlet, or Tesla charger set up in our garage. It is pretty clear that if you owned a Tesla, installing a charging unit in your garage is the way to go.
Overall, this vehicle is a great choice, and I would rent it again.
