This all electric/no emission Leaf is not only a great vehicle for those who are new to/curious about EVs, but also a great one for local travel-well engineered, comfortable, quiet, a pleasure to drive. It has a top range of 80 miles, and recharges in 2-3 hours on a Level 2 charge (there are a growing number available) or 12 hours from a regular 120V outlet. I can help you get oriented to local Level 2 stations, including ones on the ChargePoint network, which I belong to.
The car is typically available during the day on weekdays, although because of the limited range, it is not a good option for more than local travel. Given this and my use of the car, it is in general not available for overnight use.
The car is best picked up where I work in downtown Carrboro, convenient to local and regional bus service. I may be able to deliver it to locations in/near downtown Carrboro/Chapel Hill/UNC.
For those new to EVs, a little orientation is warranted. I may be able to provide some one-on-one orientation when you pick up depending on my schedule, and can also provide written/reference information prior to or at the pick up.
At least for your first rental or two, you'll also need to know how many miles you plan to drive when making the reservation and pass that information on to me so: 1) I can have the car properly charged, and 2) advise you about need and where to charge while you are using and/or when you are finished.
Prefer within 15 minute walk of dowtown or on bus route
Please no pets, smoking, or eating and if you drink water/a beverage, please use a closed container. Please return the car as you found it.
Where is the pick up?
Pick up is at my workplace. which is a public building.
How do I charge your electric car?
I will show you at pick up. Most likely, you will want to charge at a "Level 2" station. There are several in downtown, (some public/free and some require swiping card) and others in the area. These stations provide about 35 miles of range per hour of charging. You can find locations at plugshare.com. I am a member of ChargePoint; these stations can be found at chargepoint.com. Most likely, you will only need to charge if you drive more than ~ 60-65 miles.
How many miles will I be able to drive?
Hypothetically, you could potentially drive 150 miles or maybe more, but that would involve convenient access to charging station(s) and several hours of charging time. For most trips/uses, it's best to plan for no more than 60-70 miles or perhaps up to 100 if charging planned in advance.
