Super easy pickup and Steven was very responsive throughout. Seems like a good guy.
The listing had said the car is regularly serviced and had a music connection. Was a little thrown off when the service light came on when I started the car, one of the daytime running lights was burned out, the actual headlight bulbs didn't match, and there wasn't a music connection (requires an Audi-specific aux cord that apparently had been recently stolen). Also it started to rain in the middle of the trip and when I flipped on the wipers it seemed like they could probably use a change - did the sort of water smear around thing that happens when wipers are too old.
The car runs great and I probably still would've rented it at a discount but sort of regretted paying more than Hertz was charging for the day given the issues.
I really wanted to rate this highly, as the car was fun to drive once I was situated, and the few interaction that I had with Steven were professional. But there were several things wrong with the condition of the car when I picked it up and how the pickup/drop off process was conducted.
First, Steven wasn't available to drop off the car. Thats no problem, he arranged to have his friend, Damien meet me at Logan airport. His friend was 15 minutes late. When he arrived, he did a run down of the car with me, including the dimming daylight running light on the passenger side, and for some reason a recount of his stay in Cancun.... Meanwhile the traffic officer at Logan was telling us we have to get out of the lane. Also, the passenger side of the car was caked in mud. As Damien finally picked up his things, I noticed he took out his pack of cigarettes
As I got into the drivers seat I instantly noticed the smell of cigarettes and the tire pressure indicator light. Unable to stand the smell of the smoke, and concerned about the tire pressure, I stopped by a Walmart and picked up an Ozium sprayer, an air freshener and a tire pressure checker.
All of the tires were significantly deflated and one of the tires were almost half of the pressure that they should have been (25/42). That's a blow out waiting to happen! I stopped by the gas station and paid to pump up the tires.
As another rented stated, the passenger seat is broken, it reclines but doesn't come back up. You can spend some time fiddling with the levers to get it to come back up again, but be prepare to be riding backless for some time.
Finally, the mud and dirt on the passenger side was obscuring my ability to check my blind spot so I got the car washed as well.
All of this should should have been taken care of before I picked up the vehicle. If I just went to a rental company, I wouldn't have had to worry about any of it. Oh and by the way, the car needs to be serviced as of about 1,000 miles ago (according to the car).
I wouldn't be that mad about it though, and would have rated the car a 3 star experience given how well it drives. But as soon as I told Steven about this, he basically cut off all communication. Soon I got a call from his MOTHER, who isn't the most courteous of people, demanding to know when I was to drop off the car (which I had already confirmed with Steven 3 times over). Ok fine, I go to meet her at the airport and decide call to ask who/what I should be looking for. She picks up, immediately says "OKAY" and hangs up. What the hell does that mean?? Then it turns out his Father was the one picking up the car, cause obviously I should have been looking for a male this whole time. By the way, the only indication that he was looking to pick up the car was that he pointed, from the other side of the street, at me. That could literally be anything... how about a wave?
Again, the car drives great if you don't have to get rid of smoke/mudd/tire pressure/broken seat problems from the start, and if you don't have to deal with aloof friends or rude parents. But if I would never tell someone to rent from Steven given my experience...
This was my girlfriend and my first Turo experience. She says its her last.
Pros: good price and easy pickup, car was clean
Cons: as other reviewers have mentioned, the car needs service. The oil light went on each time I started it and the front headlight was out. Also the passenger seat reclined but did not move forward so my girlfriend had to alternate between sitting without a back and leaning into the back seat.
This review would have been 5 stars if not for the issues with the headlight and seat.
Overall a good trip however, when turning on the car a lot of messages popped up: front side light was out, washer fluid was low and something about break pads. I didn't have any troubles with the car but thought it was worth noting there probably should have been a little work done before renting out the car. Other than that, it was a great experience, the car was clean enough and it was great to drive.
There was a bit of a mishap when picking up the car due to previous driver, but Steven and the Turo team helped resolve it. After getting over the headache, the rest of the trip went smoothly. The car ran great and was very fun to drive in. The Audi is good if you're traveling long distances and enjoy comfortable/slightly sporty ride.
Stevens Audi was perfect! It was half the price of a rental car and everywhere we went people said "wow! How did you get an Audi!" It had everything we needed and got us everywhere we needed to go. Steven always got back to us within minutes and it was a very positive experience. Will absolutely rent from him again!
Overall great trip with this car!. Was very nice and easy pick up and drop off. Would have liked to have been able to plug my phone in for music, but we only had a cable that would connect to an old iPod. Would recommend and rent again.
Communication was very easy throughout the entire process. Car was incredibly dirty and there was trash left in the vehicle. Old car (2006) but it got me from A to B and back, safely. Probably look elsewhere for a car.
Everything was awesome !!! The car is great , clean and drive very fast!!! It's 3.2 L ... Believe me guys.... That's enough to enjoy that car !:)) thanks Steven for that Audi A6. 100% will rent it again!
Steven was just the easiest car owner to work with for this rental; I booked last minute, and the car was ready to go with easy pick up. I left my keys in the car at the completion of my rental and he went out of his way to make sure I got them back right away. The car was a pleasure to drive. I'd highly recommend renting his A6.
Steven was amazing to deal with. My flight was delayed over 2 hours and Steven still worked everything out and got the car to us when we arrived in Boston. I highly recommend him. Car drove awesome and had everything we needed.
Thanks for your help Steven
Steven and the car were both great! Steven was easy to communicate with, and very flexible both dropping off and picking up the car - made for a very smooth experience. The car is great - most affordable luxury car I've driven on Turo. I'd definitely rent from Steven again.
Overall a great trip! Steven was very accommodating when an incident changed my trip and he also was flexible when it came to the pickup and drop off. He was also very informative about the Boston area and mentioned good things to do and see. Highly recommended!
This was my first time with Turo and frankly it was great! Steven was really easy to communicate with--he responded immediately to any questions I had--and was generally very helpful. So much better than renting a car!
Steven was friendly and respectful of our time. He met us at the airport to give us his car and coordinated a pickup at our departure terminal. He also gave us a helpful tip for using Boston's airport. Overall, it was a convenient and positive experience.
This car was perfect for our trip to the Maine backwoods. We had to drive through bad snow conditions on the interstate followed by back roads then snow covered dirt roads. The Audi handled all these conditions with aplomb. The pick up and drop off at the airport was convenient and easy. A great experience overall.
This was my first time using Turo. The car (Audi A6) was beautiful and just as shown on the website. There was a little hiccup with meeting up to collect the car; however, Steven outdid himself in making up for it. Also, the folks at the Turo office were extremely helpful in smoothing things out. It's so nice to drive something other than the standard, boring rental car from a big rental company. I will be sure to recommend this experience to others.
Steve was a pleasure to deal with, quick with responses, informative answers. Audi A6 was delivered with a full detailing. A great car, a very smooth ride and surprisingly a decent mpg-about 30 mpg.
Steve was very easy to work with, and answered texts/calls immediately. The Audi drove smooth and has great gas mileage. Once our trip was over, we picked him up from his house, which was near the airport and he dropped us off. I'm glad we arranged that, because he was extremely funny and down-to-earth. Whenever I travel to the Boston area again, I will definitely be renting from Steve! Thanks again! We had a blast!
