How does pickup and dropoff work?
Using our messaging system, owners and their guests should connect before the trip start to coordinate picking up and dropping off the vehicle. Once a trip has been confirmed, you’ll receive the owner’s contact information as well.
When you pick the car up, you should:
Inspect it with the owner to make sure you understand any special aspects of the car
Take a photo of the dashboard to capture the mileage and fuel level
Take photos of any pre-existing damage (so that you are not held responsible for it)
Show the owner your valid driver's license
How do I extend a trip?
Not ready for your adventure to end just yet? We don’t blame you.
To keep driving beyond your scheduled trip end, go to your Dashboard to request a trip change.
All requests must be made before a trip ends so that the owner can approve or decline the new end time. Trip change requests expire 8 hours from the request, or at the end of the original trip end time.
Travelers and their passengers are not permitted to smoke in any vehicle in the Turo marketplace.
We take reports of smoking very seriously. If a smoke smell is reported by the owner within 24 hours of a trip end, the renter is subject to fine and potentially removal from the community.
If there is a smoke smell at the beginning of the trip, the renter should let us know via support.turo.com (please create a Subject line "Smoke Smell Before Trip") or via phone immediately to avoid being unfairly held responsible for the violation.
Guests are responsible for replacing any gas used during the rental, using the appropriate fuel (i.e., regular, premium, or diesel).
If a car has less gas at the trip end than it did at the start of the trip, the owner may use the reimbursement tool on their Dashboard within seventy-two (72) hours of the end of the trip to request payment from their guest. Owners should also use Trip Photos from the beginning and end (no later than twenty-four (24) hours from the end) to document the gas levels. More information may be found here.
Owners always receive 100% of the gas fee. If the gas fee is processed through the reimbursement tool, an additional 3% payment processing surcharge will be added to the traveler’s total. If Turo manually processes the reimbursement, an administrative fee of $25 will be added.
