Great car, the reason I bought it is to give people the experience of driving a Tesla. It's a thrill to drive. I ask only that you drive it gently, and be careful driving near curbs. (I drove a friend's Tesla once through a Portillo's drive-thru and caused "rim rash" on the wheel. Doh!)
Probably to me one of the most fascinating things is the radar-assist driving and parking features. The nav screen is nice, and when you input directions the GPS also shows in the dash; very cool.
Charging: For a one day trip the range is about 200 miles; you are responsible for being able to get it back to the pick-up location. The car comes with a cable that you can use to charge in an AC110 outlet overnight, but it only adds 3 miles per hour. Going to a Tesla supercharger allows you to try charging quickly, but you don't have to charge for a single day trip. There are maps for superchargers - inside the car itself it can show you locations. For multi-day long-range trips there is a site called EVPlanner that can show you how far you can go. Glad to discuss opportunities like that.
Parking: the pick-up location does not have parking; you will need to get a ride to pick-up and to drop-off. It's conveniently located right near the 88 and 59 in Naperville.
Learning the features: I printed out the entire manual; it's built into the screen in the car but a print version is available, and I can show you the basics upon pick-up.
Todd's and his Tesla are simply amazing! The car is gorgeous and impeccable, as it just came of the showroom floor. When you sit behind the wheel you feel like you're in a supersonic plane although everything is very intuitive and combined with Todd's detailed yet simple explanations, it's super easy to understand. The car drives so smooth you almost feel like you're driving on top of the clouds. The car is 4 wheel drive and we had snow twice, not an issues at all. If you ever considered buying a Tesla but not sure if you're ready for all electric, rent this car and you will be convinced like me. Thank you Todd for letting me have this opportunity, you and your car are both splendid!
Honestly couldn't be happier with any aspect of this trip and reservation. Todd was a pleasure to work with, making the pick-up and drop-off as easy and pleasant as possible, as well as going out of this way to introduce us to the features and differences between the Tesla and most other cars.
The car, for its part, is awesome. It's a great way to experience what an electric vehicle would be like on an out-of-town trip (superchargers make it quite a bit less stressful), but the Tesla is so much more than just an electric vehicle. It's really a premium car in every sense of the word, and Todd's kept his in immaculate condition inside and out. it's a joy to drive, and a great way to experience a Tesla
Bottom line, this was an awesome experience, and I'll probably do it again every once in a while until I can afford a Tesla of my own..
Todd is FANTASTIC to work with - friendly, easy-going / extremely accommodating and his Tesla is insanely good, engineering marvel, stunning to look at from the inside and outside alike - I know I'll be back again (potentially many many times until I can afford to get my own Tesla) - he was punctual, easy to communicate with and extremely kind. I wish I could give 6 out of 5 stars. Hey, if his Tesla audio volume can go to 11 I should be able to give 6 out of 5 stars :) This experience feels like it's going to be imprinted in my brain / unforgettable - the first time I got a taste of what it'd be like to own an electric vehicle... motivation to get my Tesla, now to figure out how to make that happen sooner rather than later :)
