I hate to rewrite a negative review, because I never have. I usually have good experiences with Turo. I was surprised by this outcome due to the fact that this owner has 5 stars, and previous good reviews. I'm not sure if I'm an anomaly or what. But here was my experience.
When I went to pick up this car it was disgustingly dirty. The owner was not present. He just left it in a parking lot for me to pick it up. There was change crusted in the cup holders, coffee (brown liquid) all over the doors and all of the inside of the car. The seat covers were pealed off- exposing how dirty/stained the seats were, and the car reeked of cigarettes. The floors were also filthy, but they are floors so that's not the biggest deal.
I had traveled all the way out to pick up the car and had plans to use it that day, so I ended up spending a half hour of my time, scrubbing the car so it was useable. I had it booked for 5 days and knew I couldn't use it in that condition. Later I opened up the trunk to literally find a bag of ripped open dirt- spilling everywhere, a mop, and a bunch of other random things. I had to lay a tarp over it so I could use it.
The car itself was due for an oil change (light was on), had a pretty flat front left tire (which I had to fill). If this car wasn't such a far distance from my home I would have returned it early, but I didn't have time with my schedule.
I wrote to Turo explaining what happened and have yet to receive a response. I think there needs to be some sort of requirement that Turo stands by. For people's safety, most of all. I was very disappointed and I don't think I will continue to use this service due to this experience. I understand it's a cheap service, but there are other cheap services that hold better standards and have better customer service. Hell, you could rent a car from a rental service for a few bucks more.
So to who ever rents this car next, you're welcome for cleaning it.
