First and last trip using Turo. I'm gonna keep using Getaround. Better support for sure.
Also they are way more transparent about their policies. Turo on the other hand wants to charge me $70 extra for what they call "extra mileage". It seems the owner of this car has a 100mileage limit (it doesn't matter for how much time you book it because I booked it for 12h) but he doesn't show it on his listing so be careful IT'S A SCAM! Mehmet knew it was my first time because I told him before receiving the keys and didn't say anything and by the moment I left the car it was weird because he went straight to see the mileage with a calculator on his hand! It looks he knows what he's doing so be careful!!. Also when I returned the car on time I left it with way more gas (the tank was 1/4 when I got it) and nobody is saying anything about it. Driving at night I discovered that the low beams didn't work.
Turo won't do anything even though I sent them evidence of everything. Please be aware about this scammers.
Sadly I informed Mehmet that I might be a bit late to pick up his car due to bad weather in Chicago in which he responded “no worries.” When I landed and said I’d be half an hour late (15 min over the grace period) he said he could and wouldn’t accommodate me. I understand it might have put him in a compromising position, but all communication stopped and he would not write back. Customer service reached out to him, but alas, he was not willing to reach and an agreement around the miscommunication. I was asked to cancel the agreement and incur the 85.00 fee when I never saw the car. Fortunately Turo resolved the issue because I had documentation of the flight delays. Just be careful you follow all the rules and do not trust rely on people’s word!
