There's a reason why this guy is in a costume and it's not because it's almost Halloween.

This was a horrible experience from start to finish.
At the start of the trip Benjamin was 45 minutes late to drop off the car. The car was filthy and when I mentioned this to Benjamin before taking the car he suggested I get the car detailed and provide him a receipt. Which I thought was a reasonable response. Once I provided him the receipt that's when things really snowballed out of control. I spent the entire trip trading emails with Turo with supporting evidence of the dirty car and cleaning receipts. Turo contacted the detail shop where I had the car cleaned to check to see if the car really was as dirty as I said. The guy at the detail shop said the car was one of the dirtiest he's ever seen.
Beyond being dirty there was debris; paperwork, hangers, clothes, tools, wrappers, etc strewed throughout the car and trunk.
I rented the car for one week. One the 5th night of the trip I was pulled over by the police for having expired tags. The tags expired in March and I rented the car in July. According to his trip log he had rented his expired plates car to several Turo members before me.
Among the debris was a letter in Benjamin's handwriting requesting records for his arrests on 1/12/2006 for damage to property, 9/1/2005 malicious destruction of personal property, 11/18/2005 disorderly conduct/obstruction/resist hinder/assault of an officer.
There was also a letter dated 1/14/2015 regarding his gun: Brazil ultra light 44 Cal pistol reported missing or stolen.
Turo suggested that the car be towed rather than drive on expired plates to return the vehicle. I had explained that I didn't yet fill the gas tank. After this night mare experience this guy charged my credit card $76.49 to refill the gas tank + $25 admin fee. Turo had told me I didn't need to have the gas tank full because the car was being recovered via tow.

The car was lovely! The service...not so much. We used Turo so we didn't have to take uber everywhere but with the owner not being prepared to get the car at the airport forced us to get a $25 uber to the airport. Will not ever rent from Benjamin again.
Ben was a great host, he met me curbside and pick up was a breeze. The car ran great and is a blast to drive. He was very accommodating with the return and made our trip to Chicago hassle-free! Hope to work with Ben in the near future!
