Rent this zippy CONVERTIBLE for less than most standard cars from a rental car company. This is THE car to rent, to experience the unique jungle beauty that the East side of the Big Island has to offer. Put the top down so you can smell the ocean, hear the birds, feel the sun on your skin and let the breeze blow thru your hair.

This 2005 Ford Mustang Convertible is clean, comfortable, reliable and fun to drive with its peppy V6 engine. Power convertible top goes up and down in seconds. Has automatic transmission, power windows and door locks, a/c, USB input, retro styling, and CD/stereo system with good sound. The new premium Wet Okole neoprene seat covers will keep the leather seats dry when your okole (Hawaiian word for the glutes) is wet from a dip in the ocean.

Why visit the East side of the Big Island?
You will have easy access to the ever changing Volcanoes National Park, colorful Hilo town, and lovely Akaka Falls. You'll want to put the top down and take a scenic ride along the Big Island’s southeastern coast on the Old Red Road (also known as Kapoho-Kalapana Road, Route 137). There are magnificent tree tunnels, lava fields and spectacular ocean views. See my listing's photos for a glimpse of what's to come. This narrow, paved road winds right along the ocean and takes you by these points of interest – Kapoho Tide Pools (excellent snorkeling), Ahalanui Pond (volcanic-heated pond where you can enjoy a dip), MacKenzie State Park (large park where you can watch the waves crash into steep sea cliffs) and Kahena Beach (remote black sand beach and one of the few unofficial clothing-optional beaches in Hawaii). Once you arrive in Kalapana, there is another unique attraction - the Kaimu Beach Eco-Path (an easy trail across a lava field that will take you to where lava entered the ocean, and where the old Hawaiian town of Kalapana used to exist before the 1980's lava flow). Here every Wednesday night is a lively local market featuring free Hawaiian music, great food and a small vendor bazaar. It is hosted at Uncle Robert's place - the only residence in Kalapana that was spared by Pele's lava flow. There's also a good farmer's market on Saturday mornings in Hilo and the popular Maku’u farmers market near Pahoa town on Sunday mornings is one of the largest on the island.

Free pickup and drop-off in Pahoa or Kapoho. Hilo International Airport delivery for a fee of $50 and Kona Airport for $120 (Kona airport is 2 hrs away).
