Turo is a good idea but is not executed well in my opinion. I used turo one time when I was visiting Atlanta. Details were left out by my host "Auto" in directions to get to the rental first of all, then when I got to the rental, there were so many things wrong with the car: the power lock didn't work so I had to manually pick and unlock all 4 doors all the time, there was only one key, the left speaker was blown out and the sound had all been moved to the right speaker. The alignment of the steering wheel was dangerously off, and last but not least, when the backseat center armrest was pulled down, there was a really sticky crust on it like someone had spilled coke or something sticky and had never cleaned it up. And last but not least, I had to pay for an extra day bc i needed 2 more hours to take the car back down to the airport parking lot and the app wouldn't let me change my "end trip" time so I called customer service and they told me to pay for that extra day and that I'd be reimbursed. Then I get an email saying it's not up to them- it would be up to the host. And so I contact the host and of course he isn't willing to reimburse me. So all in all, I was never told about the extremely poor quality of the car, I had to find out myself, customer service wasn't honest with me so I had to pay an extra day that I didn't even use the car. Not to mention that the host "couldn't find the car" when we returned it. It took him several hours to find the car when I parked it exactly where I was supposed to. I would never ever recommend Turo to anyone. It's not worth the headache and hassle. I would tell them just to rent a car from a normal car rental. My host "Auto" was nice but communication was very inconsistent- he was contacting me from 3 different numbers and when I was leaving Atlanta and needed to sort things out, he was unresponsive. Once I finally got a hold of him he was nice but that didn't make up for all the rest of everything.
"Auto" the guy who I rented my car from, was nice but communication was so poor- he was contacting me from 3 different numbers so that was confusing. Then the car was in terrible shape and he didn't mention any of it to us. The power lock didn't work, one of the speakers was blown out so he had moved all the sound to the other side, and there was spilled coke or something sticky and sugary all over the backseat center armrest. Not only this but I needed to change my trip end time from 4am to 6am and the app wouldn't let me so I was told by customer service to pay for an extra day and that i would be reimbursed and then once I did pay for that extra day, i got an email from customer service saying I wouldn't get my money back so they basically lied to me. I will never be using turo ever again. Also at the end of my trip I had a hard time contacting my host "Auto" as he was unresponsive to my texts and calls. Once I finally got a hold of him he was nice but that didn't make up for the mishaps and poor poor quality of the car.
