The current incarnation of Tesla is not for all, but it's the future of automobiles. Everyone ought to at least take a test drive. Once Tesla announced their Autopilot feature I couldn't hold off any longer. I see no reason I should have to drive on the freeway when the car can mostly do a better job than I would! Mine was delivered in December 2015. While I love driving the car, I don't need it on a daily basis.
Tesla claims the car has a zero carbon footprint, but that's not really true since the electricity to power it has to come from somewhere. But that's not the reason to choose it. It's a blast to drive and perhaps the safest car on the road.
Optional extras on my S70D include autopilot, "next generation" grey leather seats, all glass panoramic roof, smart air suspension, and high fidelity sound.

If you're driving your car to Patty's place you can leave it in her garage during the rental period.
TPA pickup is available only for rentals of five days or longer unless you can drop me off and pick me up at my home in Sarasota. I'm about an hour south of TPA on I-75 (30 minutes from SRQ.)
You can avoid the airport pickup fee entirely by using Uber. In that case, I can accommodate a trip of any duration. The Uber one-way fare is about $30 to SRQ and $75 to TPA.
No pets, no smoking. Really! I'd specify a $10,000 fine if I could.

Car performance was great. Be prepared to have the "need a charge anxiety" If plugged into a normal 12v wall outlet you only get 4 miles of battery for every hour charging. Not much. The owner had it maxed out at 190 (didn't find that out until 20 min before the car was returned) Max was 250 or higher. Cleanliness was ok. Rained night before but Patty who works with Adam said if I wanted to get a car wash I could and she would reimburse me afterward. One turn off was that little spiders crawled out of the glove compartment. Also if renting you will go through a drivers ed class. If you have not been in a car newer than 2004 it will benefit you...I guess... I was shown how to use the power seats. No different than any other car out there with power seats. Also shown how power mirrors worked. again redundant. You drive around the block with Patty to get a feel for the breaking system. So budget 45 min after you arrive to go through Drivers Ed. Experience with Adam and Patty were pleasant. Both were quick to respond to questions. Car was great though just be warned that you will have the charge anxiety if traveling further than a 2 hour round trip.
This was my first experience with a Tesla and I loved it. What a well-designed smooth, nice (and fast) car! I liked too, that it's not so flashy as to attract too much attention. It does take a little bit to get used to the feeling of brakes going on when you lift off the gas pedal but in the end, I loved it!
Car was absolutely fantastic and worth every penny to experience a Tesla! Only drawback at all was that Adam uses another lady to help him with rentals while he is it if town. She was very caring but also proved to be a bit challenging at times - seemed frustrated that I didn't bring the car back fully charged. Rest assured though, the experience will be worth any hangups.
Amazing car and now I have some serious thought about getting a Telsa. Adam is a cool dude and I appreciated him meeting me to pick up the car. He explained everything clearly and gave me tips on how to charge. I would definitely rent from him again.
