This was my first time using turo. I was slightly skeptic at first . I rented with Dimitry seeing that he had the most cars and ratings it seemed. I rented a 2012 VW Jetta from him. The price was reasonable I guess.we met up ,he came with the car checked my license then quickly left. The exterior of the car was clean the interior however wasn't. I didn't make a big deal however. I gave the benefit of the doubt and attributed that to my booking hours ahead and him not being able to go to the car wash Or clean it in time. I asked him before he left if there's anything I need to know about the car. He said no. Everything was cool for the first evening/night . By the second day ... I had issues with the key being stuck in the ignition when I needed the car to turn off. I contacted him and his claim was that the car was fine and he drove it up to two weeks prior with no issues. I had to go to a mechanic who had to spray electronic solution to free up the key. He told me the cylinder is going bad(it's not a brand new car) and will soon need changing. I made Dimitry aware of this who acted surprised when deep down I'm sure he was aware of this issue. So for the ready of my four days I pretty much was rolling the dice when I needed to take the key out or switch off the car . If it didn't turn right away I had to sit there and spend time wiggling it around abit (as advised by the mechanic)until it eventually turned.
I will commend Dimitry on his swift responses ExCEPT for when I msged him informing him of a last minute /emergency outta state trip I had and needed to cancel the two extra days I paid for. He declined my request and responded saying he won't do refunds. After telling him how unreasonable and inconsiderate he was being. He went ghost. So I had to just stick it out for the two extra dys.
In summation I would recommend turo to anyone looking for a convenient direct car rental without the hassles that come with standard rental company's . I would use the service again.
As for Dimitry I don't see myself renting from him again or recommending anyone to rent from him . He's not a terrible person but he needs to work on his attitude , being more considerate and more of a people person to customers and not just trying to get their money. If you do decide to rent from him I would suggest you do a thorough inspection(preferably with a mechanic) of the vehicle.
