Started out great. Ben was very communicative throughout the booking process and made the handoff very easy. He did not provide a ski rack as promised because he did not have all of the proper hardware to mount it. Said we could drive a half an hour south of the airport to get it from his house, but that was unacceptable to us as it would be a complete waste of our time. We were also told ahead of time that the car had blizzak snow tires on it but in reality it has pirelli all season tires. The car was great until the second to last day when the battery in the key died and we could not get the car started. We were forced to pay for a ride into Dillon from keystone to buy a new battery for the key since it was the only key provided. This caused us to lose the second half of our last ski day as we like to end our trip by skiing keystone in the AM and A Basin in the PM. Ben did not answer our call or return our call until a few hours later, immediately after I sent him a message in the Turo app updating him on our issues. During our phone call Ben called me a "fucking idiot", after telling him we paid for a ride into town, for not "googling" how to start the car with a dead keyfab. I then told him we found the instructions in his cars manual and attempted to start the car that way, with no success. At this point Ben was very rude and remained very confrontational throughout the rest of our call which ultimately caused me to hang up due to being insulted.
We returned the car to the parking ramp at DIA as discussed with Ben and sent pictures of the car parked and where the key was located, per his request, as he would not be there for a direct handoff.
But I have now received an email from Turo stating Ben is claiming damage to his car although it was returned in the exact same condition as when he gave it to us, all be it slightly more dirty on the outside as we were skiing in the mountains and he told us not to worry about cleaning it because there was dirt on it when we picked it up.
I will update with what damage Ben is claiming after I learn more. But do not trust this guy! He is clearly trying to pull a fast one even though we have photos of the car returned in the same condition it was provided to us. Not to mention he is very rude to his customers after the initial handoff has occurred.
Ben is an outstanding guy! Great experience. Everything went very smoothly. He offered us a great car at a great price. He even offered us a couple things for free we didn't think about - a car seat and ski racks! He was easy to talk to. This was my first time using Turo and I will gladly use it again thanks to Ben!
Ben was an awesome and accommodating host. He found out that we had a five year old and offered a booster seat so that we wouldn't have to lug one through the airports. He also hooked us up with a ski rack so that we could easily hit the slopes during our trip. Ben met us at our arrival location at the terminal for pick up as well as meeting at a convenient location for returning the car and our departure. Initially I was a little worried about fitting my family of four in his car with all of our gear, but it worked great and we weren't cramped at all! So far TURO was a great and convenient experience thanks to Ben. I don't have any reason to return to using a traditional rental agency again. Ohh and did I mention that his car is awesome!
