"Best mountain EREV(extended range electric vehicle)/Hybrid for the rockies - even has a mountain mode!"
You wouldn't think so but this little guy is spacious, luxury, and can handle mountains better than most 2 wheel drive trucks with chains... why? Because of the combined weight of the engine and large battery giving it nearly 5,000 lb's for the agile and gripped front wheel electric drivetrain to handle just about anything.

***About the 2014 Chevy Volt***
The Chevrolet Volt is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle manufactured by General Motors. You can drive ~40 miles on a single charge (pure electric) before the backup gas generator turns on which gives you an extended range of ~300 miles. Charging via a regular outlet from empty (at 12 amps on the provided L1 charger) can take around 7-8 hours (just plug in overnight), only 3-4hours at a 240v L2 Charger.
The Volt is the most fuel-efficient compact car with a gasoline engine sold in the United States, as rated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The Volt operates as a pure battery electric vehicle until its plug-in battery capacity drops to a predetermined threshold from full charge, at which point its gasoline engine powers an electric generator to extend the vehicle's range. The Volt's regenerative braking also contributes to the on-board electricity generation. In order to further improve energy efficiency, the internal combustion engine may at times be linked mechanically to assist its traction motor to propel the Volt.
The Chevrolet Volt has won numerous awards such as the 2009 Green Car Vision Award, 2011 Green Car of the Year, 2011 North American Car of the Year, 2011 World Green Car and 2012 European Car of the Year.
