The future is Electric and the price is just perfect. One great thing about renting an electric car is the cost to refuel is so little. The Smart ForTwo Electric Drive (ED) is a great little car for getting around town, it has lots of pep to help you maneuver, and is barely 8-ft long for snug parking.
The Smart ForTwo Electric Drive has a range 55 to 80 miles depending on how you drive. Driving on the Freeway at top speed, the range will be closer to 55 mi. Driving on city streets or in traffic on the freeway, the range will be closer to 80 mi.
There's no worry about safety in this tiny car, as the Tridion cell is a cocoon of steel capable of withstanding any collision, even with an SUV. Even so, you probably won't worry about a collision because the electric motor in this car has more torque than any other vehicle in its class to help you avoid collisions.
Please be aware that Electric Cars are different from Gas Cars when it comes to refueling.
-- Download to your smartphone the App "PlugShare" so that you can find a charging station.
-- All public charging stations can be used without an account, by calling the toll-free number on the station.
-- Some charging stations on PlugShare are not free, select a station to find out if / when it can be used
-- Certain stores have free charging such as Kohls or Fry's Electonics
-- If you're in a pinch, you can always use the on-board charger with any 110 V socket, almost anywhere.
-- Charging the car requires one hour of charging to gain 6 miles of range on Level 1 (on-board charger) and up to 12 miles of range on Level 2
If you've never driven an electric car before, please ask anything of me BEFORE you rent.

Excellent car! Fun to drive, super economical (no gas) and carpool lane zips you right along on the freeways. Highly recommended.
