***This is an electric car, 70 miles of range. No Gas *** Recommended for short trips only. If you need to drive further than 70 miles, it will need to be charged at an electric vehicle charging station. Or you can charge it using a regular wall outlet but that charging is very slow.
This Spark EV is practical, fun to drive, and environmentally friendly. It is competitively priced and you never have to fill gas! Other rental vehicles may seem enticing, but their prices don’t include how much gas you have to fill before you return the car. That is not a worry with this car. You'll receive the car with a fully charged battery that gives you around 70 miles of range. You don’t have to top up the battery before returning, I’ll take care of it at no cost to you! This is a zero hassle rental, just pick it up, drive and return.
This car is great for those looking for short distance travel. If you need to drive more than 70 miles, there are plenty of EV charging stations around the Bay Area and you can find them using the PlugShare app. There is also a charger cord in the trunk that plugs into a standard wall outlet. The wall outlet charging is very slow, so this may not be practical for some. You are welcome to drive it for unlimited number of miles during your rental, but do keep in mind you will need to charge it for any trips longer than 70 miles.
This car is essentially brand new! It only has a few thousand miles and still has the new car smell.

2016 Chevrolet Spark EVZaid's Chevy Spark EV15513
Renting the Chevrolet from Zaid was a great experience! It was very easy to communicate with Zaid and he was punctual, which was important for me, because I had to hurry to a meeting. He had just washed the car, it was new and clean and fully charged when we left, amazing service! I could return the car at any time without Zaid needing to be at home. The EV was very nice to drive and even had a wifi hotspot! Thank you for the rent, Zaid!
Wonderful first time traveling in an EV. Finding charging stations takes a little planning in PlugShare. Zaid provided his ChargePoint card which is a credit based charging card. It worked at a ChargePoint charger. EVgo said they accept this card at their stations too after providing email and phone number on the account.
We drove non-stop from NE San Jose to Monterey (78 miles) with about 23 miles left on charge. We drove back non-stop accidentally through the Santa Cruze (75 mile curvy hilly route) with ~15 miles left on charge. We drove in "L" gear, 45-50 mph whenever possible, and diverted no power from the engine. So no A/C, heating, or audio from the vehicle ever. Also conservative on headlight use during day and conscious turn light use.
In total, about ~$10 was spend for energy with no stops. The car displays a 85 mile range which updates based on driving efficiency. The more efficient you drive, the farther you can go! Use "L" gear to use enhanced regeneration system that reclaims energy when not accelerating. I totally recommend this car for city driving and with conscious driving for routes ~70 miles.
So this is my second time trying out Turo and let me start by saying that I had the best experience renting from Zaid. Everything was perfect, clean looking car both inside and out, fully charged battery, and ready to go once I picked up the car. Zaid was very easy to communicate with making this rental a wonderful experience. I will definitely rent from him again. Thank you, Zaid!!!
Zaid is very friendly. The car was in perfect condition. I rented the Spark EV. Tons of power and fun to drive. Note it did not have the high speed DC charging option. I got it to experience what it's like to have an electric car. You definitely want to have a charger at or near home, and some public chargers require cards you need to get ahead of time. But for the most part they're either free or work with a wireless chipped credit card. In one case I was able to pay using the PlugShare app. You will want PlugShare to find local chargers.
My trip with Chevy Spark was great! Zaid replied to my trip request within minutes. He was a really nice guy, simple, easy to talk to. We communicated through iMessage the whole time. We met in the morning at his parking, where he showed me the car, gave me the car keys and that was pretty much it, I was ready to drive it. The car itself was brand new, it had less than a 1,000 miles when I was driving it, you could still smell that brand new car smell. The car is all-electric, but has a decent miles range. I did a 32-miles there and a 32-miles back trip on a single charge. The best thing about it is that you don't have to spend any extra $$ on gas. All in all, a reliable, good looking car I highly recommend!
