Really nice, clean car. Communication was prompt and pick-up & drop off was seamless. The only issues were (as mentioned by previous user) the owner's ChargePoint card no longer works and the listing says free charging but I needed to use my personal card to charge up. Also the rear tires are very much worn, so I hope they get changes before it gets rented again. Other than those two minor issues the overall experience was very good, and I would rent from Nagavenkata again.
To be fair, It's a great and clean car to drive. And I dropped the car a little bit late, but the owner has no problem with that.
But there was a big problem, the key fob with RFID that can allows you to get access to the public charge station did not work!
At the first time of recharging this car, I asked the owner how to solve this problem, due to that station did not have ID sticker on it, the problem remained unsolved. I was even helped by a stranger who also drives i3. Plus, I was asking the owner to provide another spare key fob, but he was out of town.
Therefore, during the whole trip, everytime I want to charge at the public station, I call to customer service, explain that I am not the owner but I want to charge, leave basic info, provide Key fob ID, locate charge station and finally charge the car, all by myself. In general, I tried to call the owner but he seems to prefer texting, which is fine. But in some situation, texting is not that efficient at all.
And since this is the first time I drive EV, I've done so much study about the general info. Like the charge network, different level of charge and you even have a portable charge port in your car front trunk that allows you to use common 120V plug to charge. But I've learned these info all by myself before the trip. It would be better if the owner introduce more background of EV for renter.
Honestly had a really enjoyable time with this car. It was fun to drive and I loved the driving assistance it offered all around. I would definitely recommend this for shorter trips and make sure that there are charging stations and gas stations available wherever you are going because otherwise it may be an inconvenience. It would be great if the car came fully charged as I, who personally don't drive electric had a bit of trouble figuring it out and planning my day looking for places that had charging stations. It takes a good amount of time to charge as well. But overall was a good experience.
Renting the i3 was great! Pick up was easy, I was 5 minutes late but it was no problem. The car has a range extender so it takes away any range anxiety you may have, and the bigger nav screen definitely helps see the map if you use it. The car comes with a charger that you can plug into any wall outlet. Nagavenkata even gave me tips on how to find charging stations using the ChargeNow app. I would definitely rent from him again!
It was great to rent an i3 (the same EV we own at home) in the SF area, at an affordable price. Pickup near the airport was easy and we had no issues with the vehicle. We found charging stations in many parking lots and used the REX on gas for longer trips. Since the car was not coded, i knew that once it ran on gas, to not exceed say 65mph to keep the state of charge. The i3 handled great in the city and was good on long drives too. We were only 3 so there was plenty of room for our luggage.
Coordination of the vehicle delivery and return was very accommodating and respectful. The owner provided some very useful insights to the use of the vehicle, reducing concerns of "range anxiety". The i3 is a great urban commuter.
