Great car. I love Smart Cars. I'm happy this one has an audio jack socket to plug my iPod into. Made the trip over to Richmond more worthwhile. Car is responsive and fun to drive. It is small, don't forget that, but still has room to fit people and bags in.
I was slightly inconvenienced by the location of the car. That's not really a knock of Nikola or the car, as Turo should give general location information on the cars so I can pick on that's more convenient for me to pick up.
I planned on being in the East Bay for the whole day and returning in the morning, but plans changed and I had to drop off car earlier, but oh well. Round trip to Richmond plus driving through the maze that is SF Bay Area all on 1.5 gallons of gas. Not bad!
Everything is great just make sure you know exact location of vehicle when picking up, i rent from nikola weekly and i finally got the groove.... stress on the ACTUAL location of car not listed location.... other than that great rental/renter will book again
Would recommend if traveling alone or with only two. Small but spacious car and will get you from point A to point B. finding parking was a peice of cake with this little guy! Driving on highway was fine for me. I gave it a 4 star due to the lack of communication but at the end, It still turned out well!
It's a good affordable rental for the Bay Area. I'd just alert people that it is a small vehicle and it's a rather different driving experience than you may be accustomed to...similar to a SUV in how wind pushes it on highways. The size is definitely a big plus when it comes to parking. Would rent again.
Very good car, with an amazing fuel economy. I honestly wasn't expecting the car to drive as well as it did. It was very fun to drive around the coast with the top down. Dealing with Nikola is very easy and straight forward, things I really appreciate specially when I'm on vacations.
Car was clean, easy to find and park around the city. . But should be used only in the city. Being on the freeway was frightening, constantly being battered by the wind and blind spots when the top is down. Just keep it below 50mph and you'll be fine, spend the extra money on a real car if you want to explore the bay area.
I was a little anxious when picking up the car because Nico didn't respond to my texts leading up to the rental. I read reviews and saw that other people had the same experience. I tried calling a couple of times and he finally texted me back, unlocked his car remotely, and i got the key from inside the car. One of the idiot lights was on and he told me to check the tire pressure. I expect the owner of the vehicle to maintain the car and was surprised he told me to check it. I returned the car where I picked it up and have not yet received a response from Nico but assume everything was fine. If you know what to expect from him then all in all it was a decent experience and super cheap. I loved the convertible smart car and was surprised how well it drove on the freeway as long as you keep in mind that it has almost no pickup and you stay in the slow lane. I would rent from Nico again, knowing that communication would be minimal.
Nikola is not the most friendly person via text. That's my reason for two stars. I think customer service is most important in this kind of exchange. If I wanted crappy service, then I would give my money to a rental car center instead of someone who would appreciate the extra cash.
The car itself, was fine. Good gas milage and drove well. Nicola does require a lot of pictures to be taken, so be sure to account for 20 minutes before and after your rental just spent on taking pictures.
