We had a great time in Trey's smart car for two! It was a little shaky, but I had expected that with the small car. We did run into some trouble with the transmission (it wouldn't let us go into Drive) and ended up stranded for a bit until we could contact Trey who pulled out the car manual at his home. Trey was helpful, but we were left to our own devices and told to contact the company for road assistance. Thank goodness it didn't come to that.
Trey is personable, but I had some very unusual problems with the car. The remote locking system did not work properly, and at times I could not lock or unlock the car using the fob. Other times the electronic fob worked fine. The remote locking system kept locking the car somehow, and I could not do anything to stop it. At one point, I got out of the car to get gas, and the car locked me out while I was standing beside it! Fortunately, I had left the window open and could get back in. The manual key did not work at all. I've never experienced anything like this, extremely strange. I did not feel safe using the car for fear of getting locked out or of having the car stolen. Trey refused to refund any of my payment, stating that he could not replicate the problem. I would not recommend.
The car was not very clean and the left windshield wiper leaves a huge blur in line of vision. Trey was very responsive about fixing these issues but I was on a road trip so couldn't come back to get them fixed.
Trey was very responsive and kind, but the car was definitely not in the best condition when we rented it. The breaks made a horrible grinding sound (which the previous driver had warned Trey of). I'm not upset about the way Trey went about it, but I am rather upset that this was not included in the description so I at least know what I'm getting into and paying for. I would definitely still rent a car from Trey because he was so kind and made everything so easy, but hope this doesn't happen again in the future.
