How do I pick up and drop off?
Be sure to review the owner email instructions. DO NOT take the shuttle to Turo as the car will not be there.
Please upload an image of your license to trip photos or text me at (760) BEST-CAR (237-8227) with it before the start of your reservation. This is needed to prove identity. The exact location will be texted afterwards.
Please share your location in the Turo app while you are on the way so I may guide you to the cars location. Once you see the vehicle, text the code in the reservation confirmation email to unlock. Follow the reverse to return. Walk around the car and take photos of all four sides plus close ups of any damage you see plus the dashboard showing the fuel level and total mileage. Upload them to the trip photos and notify me when complete. Do the same at the end of the trip plus include any photos for gas receipts. Express wash will be reimbursed. This is required for record keeping. DO NOT lock the car upon returning as it breaks the remote system! Please enjoy!

What are some tips and tricks?
Here is a introduction just in case you are new to electric cars. I have a few pointers to help you on your electric journey. The level 1 charging cable can be found in the trunk and can be plugged into any 110v, 3-prong wall outlet. The EV can be charged in several hours form 0% on a 240v, level 2 charger. They are found free to use at various dealerships. If you have a smartphone, you can also download an app called Plugshare and it will also help you locate all the charging locations. Also download an app called Chargepoint and Blink. Create an account through the app or website. You can then use it to start charging when at one of their stations. I try to keep the EV fully charged, but circumstances do vary. Thank you for your understanding ahead of time.
Tips for extending range.
1. Leave AC off. Leave windows cracked open if hot.
2. Drive on highway no faster than 60mph.
3. Use cruise control in the slow lane.
4. Do not accelerate fast. Be gradual with the pedal and lift off early to use regenerate braking.
5. Draft behind larger vehicles like big rigs and SUV's.
2015 FIAT 500eSkye's Fiat EV #2154.528
I rented from Skye for 7 weeks. I loved driving the little blue Fiat 500e around LA! It is the perfect commuter vehicle, especially when sitting in traffic. This was my first experience with a fully electric car and I would definitely do it again, but only if I knew I had a place to charge it while I am working or at home. It is not so great if you are running low on battery and you can't make it home. Then you have to find a place to charge on plug share app and sit for an hour or so. It's a good time to catch up on emails and talk on the phone! Skye was very responsive and helpful. When I had a dead starter battery he replaced it for me while I was at work. But I was two days without the car. I am giving four stars because the windshield was cracked, which was a surprise when I got to the car and also I was charged for the days I wasn't able to use the car when the battery went out and the heat didn't work in the car. Other than that, Skye was great to work with and I loved my little car!
💥💥AWESOME!!!💥💥 This was my first experience with Turo. Skye's car was parked and fully charged when I arrived. Good condition. I didn't drive too much but when I did the car ran great and had a smooth feel. Electric charging was new to me but easy to figure out. I returned the car late and Skye was extremely understanding and kind. I got the car washed and vacuumed because of his customer service. Overall the experience was easy and pleasant. Great car! Will definitely rent from Skye again.
The car was very nice and clean and super easy to park all over town! However, I didn't know how difficult it could be to find charging stations or how long it takes to charge the car. We definitely spent a lot of time looking for available charging stations and waiting for the car to charge enough to get around. I would for sure rent from Skye again but will not be getting an electric car next time. Thanks for everything!
Windshield was cracked top to bottom and car was dirty. I failed to read the return charging requirements and returned the car with only 60% charge. I know it's a hassle for the owner but for $1 in electricity I was charged $35?! And the owner said nothing about the broken windshield or dirty car. Nice. Will not bother renting from again.
While the car itself was super fun to drive, we had a number of issues with the rental which caused problems during our trip.
First, the owner promised it could drive from LAX to SB on one charge. He also promised to pick us up at the airport.
In reality the car died about 20 miles short of Santa Barbara and had to be charged for an hour before continuing the trip. On the way back, we planned for a one hour stop to charge the car on the way, but the car died about 40 minutes shy of the airport. We followed instructions from the owner (who was very responsive via text) to try to find another charge station and leave it there. Both charging spots were taken and to charge at the plug in the wall we would have had to park illegally, so we parked the car legally (per his instruction) and then rushed out with all our luggage to order an Uber to get to the airport on time. We barely made our flight.
In the mean time the owner charged us for an airport pick up, a non charge fee (car left uncharged) and was not willing to reimburse us for the Uber ride. He removed the uncharged car fee when we objected to that given the circumstances. But we had to go through Turo customer service to be reimbursed for the other items. Turo handled it well, though it took a few calls and 5-7 days to sort out.
The car itself was great fun to drive, very zippy, perfect for in city driving, It was clean and free of odors. Easy to park. I imagine it would be able to drive around errands in city all day perfectly fine on one charge. It was easy to find charging stations with the app the owner recommended. And he actually looked up stations for us when we were in crisis mode both on the way to SB and on the way to LAX. He was very responsive, we just had some issues with the taxi and airport pick up reimbursement. I would rent a 500E again if I didn't need to drive 1.5-2 hours on the first day to my destination. Maybe one hour would be OK. I would estimate it can go about 60 miles on one charge on the highway (city driving is more efficient as you are braking more often).
Skye is the best renter I have had the pleasure to rent from. Unfortunately because of some miscommunication, I realized I rented a car that wouldn't satisfy my driving needs. He was incredibly helpful in setting up the tow truck to pick up the car and literally walked me through the entire process like a friend would. These experiences is why I use Turo (aka Turo) and I look forward to renting from Skye again in the VERY near future. I promise you'll get the best customer service and satisfaction that anyone can ask for using this service. 5 stars!
Car was great. People without experience with electric cars may need to familiarise themselves before hand and be prepared to find their way to charging stations. Skye was able to respond to messages quite quickly which was helpful but was a little stressful not having a phone service or Internet access, as we are from overseas. We went to two charging stations that didn't work. Plug share was a helpful app only when we had access to wifi.
The process of picking up the car was smooth only after we called for picK up. we didn't realise until after a lot of running around trying to get money for one phone call, at the airport, that infact the call for pickup cost nothing.
Great car to get about in though. very cheap holiday in terms of not having to pay for petrol.
Would highly recommend a map of LA and a plug share map and info be left in glove box of car.
Be mindful some electric charging stations are not happy for you to charge on thier premises.
One great charging station was on Hope St.
This was my first experience with Turo and I absolutely loved it! Skye made everything so easy! He responded back very fast unlike other relay ride users. He also made sure I had all the necessary information about the vehicle and gave me many pointers on charging the EV. He is a electric vehicle enthusiast! After this experience I am going to look into an electric vehicle. The overall experience with Skye was amazing! Could not have asked for a better person to rent a ride from. As for the car it was very clean, great condition, had no odor, smelled clean. Brand spankin' new! Drove like a charm and had great pickup for an EV. I was surprised by how smooth it was. The only thing I'd recommend to get the most out of this car is to not use the AC! Yes AC is great on a hot day but I'd recommend opening the windows as an alternative.. This way you will have a much better overall driving range. Charging is extremely easy but time consuming. I used the trader joes parking garage EV chargers since they are significantly faster than plugging in at home. If you plan on seeing LA get this car! Great for parking and has a great amount of storage space for the size. I would not recommend this car if you plan on driving hours away since the max range is 100ish miles. Otherwise this car is perfect and a bundle of fun. Rent with Skye!
If you would like to try driving an Electric Vehicle, you definitely have to choose this cute Fiat 500e. I longed for driving a Fiat; however, I had little acquaintance with EVs. Although I had a bit of trouble with charging (since I had to drive back and forth between LA and Long Beach), I loved the feel of driving the EV! You will see and know the benefit of driving EVs for sure. This vehicle was in great condition (so clean!), and of course, Skye was very helpful. I have sent several (looooong) messages to Skye to ask this and that, and he answered all promptly. Thanks much :D
Skye was AMAZING. Incredibly helpful, professional, courteous, and open to suggestions. The car itself was super clean, easy to use, and fun to drive. It was my first time with EVs, so next time I use them, I'll be sure to travel only smaller distances as the charging sure takes longer than a gas pump haha. It's perfect for nearby errands... and super cute to boot :) Thanks for everything!!
Terrific car, in great condition. This was my first time driving a fully electric vehicle and I found this car a joy to drive. Skye was very professional, helpful, and prompt. Overall, this was a great driving experience.
There was a complication in the beginning, but Skye was extremely accommodating and understanding. Everything worked out great, and it was a lot of fun trying out a fully electric car. Skye is very passionate about his cars and helpful with guiding you through if you're not familiar.
