I would not recommend renting a car from Emil for the following many reasons.
I booked this car weeks in advance. Less than an hour before my trip was supposed to start Emil informs me this car is not available, but he has a Honda Civic that is 4 years older than the car I scheduled to rent. I wasn't thrilled, but I had a planned trip to Yosemite and didn't want any delays so I said fine. I got to the meeting location and couldn't find where Emil said to meet. I walked around this parking garage and he's not to be found. 20 minutes later, he shows up with the car. It smells like body odor and cigarettes but I decided I could just roll the windows down and not be picky because I really wanted to start driving on my trip. I get back to the place I'm staying to pack up and notice that the front right tire is dry rotted, cracked, and half flat... my planned trip was a 700 mile round trip to Yosemite. It's completely unacceptable to give someone a car like this in unsafe condition.
I called Emil to get a different car (the 3rd car from my supposed to be originally scheduled car). A Mazda mini van type car. The tires don't look like crap at least so we get going immediately. At my first pit stop on the trip, I learn the key clicker barely works so through this trip, I had the car alarm going off many times. Even in the middle of the night at my Yosemite camp ground. How nice right? The axel of this car sounds like it's going to just break and fall apart if you go over any relatively uneven ground.
I couldn't be more upset that I decided to book a car with Emil. I've used turo multiple times before and it's been great. This experience however was awful. Turo should be concerned about people like Emil and the alarming condition of the cars he is renting out.
This car is not suitable for long trips. The steering wheel is not steady if going beyond 60 mph and the engine makes banging sounds. The tire pressure light stayed on the whole time meaning something was wrong with the tires although i stopped at a gas station to make sure they all had enough air. To make things worse the AC does not work in extreme heat. In other words dont take this car on a trip to Las Vegas. (IMO, this car is showing signs that it has been in an accident and the owners have failed to mention it and most importantly failed to inspect the car properly before renting it out. )
