Do I need to buy insurance?
When you book the rental, Turo will give you three options; premium, basic and "decline coverage". It is just like with a rental car company. If you have your own comprehensive insurance which will cover you in a rental vehicle, there is no need to purchase additional coverage. These additional coverages are rather expensive, so if you have your own insurance which covers you, I would consider using your own insurance for coverage.
Is out of state travel ok?
Out-of-state travel is OK but requires a five-day minimum with details of what state or location the trip is planned to.
Are there late fees?
Yes. For every 30 minutes that the vehicle is late without any communication as to the reason why or without express permission for time extension, there will be a $50 charge. My time is valuable spent waiting, plus other renters are inconvenienced when a vehicle is returned late.
Are there cleaning fees?
Single day rentals will be charged a automatic cleaning fee of $25. Two day rentals or longer include free cleaning (unless obviously dirty on the inside at which point additional cleaning fees would apply even on multi day rentals. (road grime/dust/rain does not require an extra cleaning fee)
How are wheel/rim scrapes handled?
Major damage will be assessed and charged at full cost of rim replacement including labor. Total=$895.
Minor damage such as curb scrapes will be charged $200 per rim.
What happens if front air splitter is damaged?
Due to the low ground clearance of this vehicle, great care must be taken when parking against tire stops, entering and exiting driveways or dips. Damage to the front splitter will be charged for full replacement.
What happens with a windshield rock chip?
There is already one small rock chip in the windshield on the left side next to the rear view mirror that has been sealed and repaired.
New rock chips or cracks will be charged $80 for chip repair. Major damage will require full windshield replacement including cost to reapply top shade tinting.
How are flat tires handled?
If it is a flat that is repairable, a simple $50 charge is added (or if you are on a trip you can get it repaired on you own. You must obtain authorization before any work is done). Since renters are responsible for tires, no expense for tire repair will be reimbursed. If the tires are not repairable, replacements are charged $575 per tire.
