Albert is a sweet man! At the start of the trip, the car had the engine light on but after I expressed my concern, luckily he's a mechanic and he fixed it on the spot. The car doesn't use up too much gas and great basic car for the city. And as requested by Albert, took the car for express cleaning before returning. Trip was great and returned car per instructions from Albert. Didn't get a chance to see him to say thank you!
I lost my wallet and had a temporary Drivers license and didn't know that I would be unable to rent the vehicle. I brought my birth certificate and social security card and had a picture of my drivers license in case of emergencies. Albert decided to keep all my money because of this even though Turo says that of anything happens within the first hour of the transaction you will get a full refund. I would of been ok with taking one day compensation but why would you keep 4days worth of my money and I never used the car? That's just wrong. He wasn't even at the residence when I got there. Never answered his phone for me to even talk to him. I'm amazed even more by Turo for false advertisement and I will be reporting this to the Better business Bureau and have them look into this further. Be aware of this guy and I wouldn't recommend any one of color to approach this guy to rent because it was super impersonal and what he did to me in along side with Turo was beyond me! I spoke to a guy name Richard from Turo Support and he took 4 days to respond to this matter. They are quick to take your money but refunds they will take there time! Fuck this Service and I will tell everyone I can about how Fucked up these people are!
The car drove good and was good on gas. The only problems were the car had body damage to the rear bumper and that wasn't shown in the picture or mentioned in the description. So to me that was deceptive. Also when dropping off the vehicle, I could tech the owner.
Albert's car is in good condition. I liked it and took good care of it during my rental period. However, contacting Albert can sometimes be challenging task because he is not always answering the phone call. I had tried to call Albert a couple of times during my rental period but most of them reached his voicemail.
Another thing I want to remind the future renter is that please be careful to avoid collision because it can be tricky to compensate as the estimate can be extremely dynamic, depending on which party you talk to. I myself, unfortunately, had a collision right one day before I returned the car, and it caused fist-sized dent in the rear bumper. I feel very sorry for this and apologized sincerely to Albert. However, in my case, the estimate from Albert is $1800 as compared to $680 from Turo (not including the handling fee). The major difference is about the "labour hour" between the two estimates. In Albert's estimate, "Body labor", "Paint labor" and "Paint supplies" are as high as around 6 hours each. However, in the estimate from Turo it shows only 1.5 hrs for Body labor and 4.1 hrs for refinish -- I think the latter is a much more reasonable time.
Please don't get me wrong. I am not saying Albert is trying to make money from the collision, but there indeed is HUGE difference between the two estimates. The room for manipulating the estimate are always there, so please be really careful when dealing with the collision/damage claim, and, BUY CAR INSURANCE!(which I didn't :()
