HSV airport will typically be curbside at baggage claim, depending on conditions. For unusual circumstances and other locations, I'll touch base ahead of time to make arrangements.
FIRST-TIMERS: If you've never driven a Tesla, I'll gladly give you an orientation if time permits. DRIVING: I suggest going easy on the go pedal at first. 443lb-ft of torque at 0 rpm + RWD is really fun to drive, but it can be touchy under heavy acceleration, especially while turning. This car is pretty wide, so be careful with lane positioning & parallel parking while getting used to it, unless you normally rock a full-size SUV or truck. I had a hard time with curbs my first month after coming from a compact. Other than that, just enjoy it and feel free to contact me with any questions. CLEANLINESS: The biggest thing with this car is no smoking. I've added deep-dish waterproof floor mats, so don't worry about dirt or mud if the weather's bad - I consider that routine cleaning. For dogs, I prefer to cover the seats with a blanket or towels, and would be happy to provide them. Thanks!
How far does this car go on a charge?
It all depends on conditions and driving style, but a good general figure is 200-250 miles. Extreme heat and cold, and high speed, will take a toll on any vehicle's efficiency. I recommend using the nav system for all trips - the car will tell you if you're trying to outdrive its practical range, and will assist you in locating available charging locations near your planned route. Additionally, taking advantage of any destination charging opportunities (even available 110v outlets overnight) will help you start longer trips with more range and avoid inconveniences.
Where do you charge a Tesla in and around northern Alabama?
You'd be surprised how many locations are available in this region. Now that we have SuperChargers in Nashville, Birmingham, and Chattanooga, and a wide variety of Level 2 (240V) options around the area, charging is rarely an issue. The included charging kit will even allow you to top up on any ordinary 110V outlet if necessary.
I will include swipe cards for two paid charging networks, Blink and ChargePoint, and will cover any charging fees during the rental period.
I recommend registering on www.plugshare.com in advance for more information. The best connector types for a Model S are, in order of speed: Supercharger; Tesla (Model S); NEMA 14-50; J1772 EV Plug; Wall.

What's with the name?
I'm a lifelong energy nerd, and a fan of the famous Shell Oil geologist M. King Hubbert, whose theories shaped our understanding of the connections between oil exploration, supply, demand, pricing, and supply chain reliability. BOB is just "black on black".
2012 Tesla Model SJeffrey's Tesla1551
Jeff was great. He showed us how all the controls and gadgets work before we took off on a trip to Nashville. This is a great way to try a Tesla out.
