This Forester is very efficient and roomy feeling. It's a good AWD rig for Alaska's roads. There is a privacy cover for the cargo area and a keyless entry remote
2001 Subaru ForesterChristian's Subaru154.515
We had an awesome family trip to Alaska. Christian was extremely easy to work with and accommodating. The car pick up and hand off was simple and convenient. He even offered to send us with fresh caught salmon. The Subaru definitely has a good amount of miles on it and needs a top of on oil when you fill her up but we drove all over Alaska and it got all 5 of us and our luggage every where we needed to go! Thanks for helping make our trip affordable and fun!
My experience with Christian and Bronwyn and their Subaru was good. I had to try more than twice to rent from them; I tried renting their truck first but it wasn't available for the dates I needed; then when I tried renting their Subaru, the request timed out (evidently), giving me a declination of my request. I tried again and was successful... Kinda like fishing, you can catch a nice fish if you're persistent. Anyway, Christian replied to my questions promptly, and if he wasn't available either Danielle or Bronwyn took good care of me. Their Subaru got me to Seward and back, no problems. It got good gas mileage, but right after I picked it up, I filled the tank so I'd have a full tank for my trip to Seward and back, and was surprised to have to put 4.4 gallons in, after I was led to believe it had a full tank. That was my biggest disappointment. All else was adequate for my trip. I would certainly rent from Christian and Bronwyn again rather than paying the exorbitant prices rental places charge in Alaska.
I give Christian a very high rating for customer service, but a low rating for the condition of his cars. He did everything in his power to make our trip enjoyable, even trading out cars. Unfortunately, all of his cars are older than what Turo would prefer (older than 2004) and had very high mileage(again, higher than what Turo requires). It is possible that the cars were grandfathered to this policy, but they were not in "excellent" condition as is required of the older, high mileage grandfathered vehicles.
Again, Christian did everything right on the customer service end, and, thankfully, we did not break down out in the country.
Christian is very sympathetic and easy to communicate with .
The car had winter tires and emergency kit , the rate was good and the car had plenty of space.
I felt safe driving on the icy roads .
Thank you Christian .
Christian Subaru is perfect for the great Alaska land! Had great communication with Christian- everything work well and I will without any hesitation recommend and likely rent Christian's Subaru again.
I was completely satisfied in renting Christian's 2001 Subaru. No problems experienced. And car ran exceptionally well and most reliable. Also Christian was most pleasant and warm demeanor. I will definitely rent from Christian again. Thanks!
Christian and Bronwyn were great to work with and the Subaru was fantastic! We booked a boat across Kachemak in Homer the day we were going to pick the car up and needed it earlier than anticipated. Christian was very accommodating (even after I woke him up!) and brought the car to us so we could get out of town on time. The drop off was equally as smooth and convenient as they are located close to the airport. The car itself was exactly what we needed for our trip and was very spacious and reliable. Christian left us with a great car emergency kit, maps, extra oil just in case, and the assurance that we could call him at any time. I would definitely recommend him as a renter!
Christian was very easy to work with, and getting the vehicle was a snap. It's an old car and it shows (how weird is it to call a 2001 an old car), but it was reliable and exactly what I needed. Will rent again, thanks!
Christian and Bronwyn were both very accommodating. My flight was significantly delayed, yet they worked with me to get me access to the vehicle even during the middle of the night.
The Subaru is quite a vehicle. It is a bit of a beater, which adds to the fun during the middle of winter. Unlike airport car rentals, this vehicle has studded tires. The vehicle was clean in and out and the owners provided the necessary winter amenities (ice scraper). The heater works well.
Picking up the vehicle was easy. The Uber ride from the airport was about $10 (but it was free since they aren't charging customers yet). Returning the vehicle was also a pleasant experience. Christian even drove me to departures at the airport.
I travel to AK for business three times per year, and this is the best car rental experience ever. I didn't feel like I had to worry about the vehicle (due to its exterior appearance), plus, it's fun to drive a manual again.
One negative was that I noticed some water dripping from the clock area (up by the rear view mirror). There may be a freeze/thaw issue with one of the weather seals. I also had trouble starting the car until I figured out that the clutch had to be ALL the way down.
Thanks Christian and Bronwyn. I look forward to getting to rent from you again in a few months.
The car is kind of a beater but it worked perfectly for us and we were happy as can be. It kind of made us look like residents. The price and reliability were all we were looking for. The pickup/dropoff location is perfect. It is super close to the airport and in walking distance to Gwennie's Old Alaska Restaurant. A cab from there to the airport is only ~$8.00. Christian was very friendly and easy to deal with. He text messaged us initially with detailed instructions on the pickup, and again after the trip, to see how everything went. Definitely would recommend.
The car worked well and all parts of the transaction went smoothly. Christian was friendly and always responded quickly. We would definitely rent from Christian again and would recommend him to others!
