Accounts Payable Specialist

<p>Turo is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable professional to join our accounting team.  As our first dedicated Accounts Payable Specialist, you will manage the entire Accounts Payable process for a rapidly growing company. We are looking for someone who is highly analytical, meticulous and comfortable juggling multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. You should be passionate about instituting best practices, creating efficiency, and constantly improving our tools, systems, and processes. Above all, you must be an effective and tactful communicator who can get results from busy teams and individuals to keep processes moving and deadlines met. </p> <p><br> <strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensure appropriate vendor setup and onboarding;</li> <li>Timely and highly accurate processing of vendor invoices and check requests;</li> <li>Work with accounting and finance departments to ensure correct account coding and proper expense classification;</li> <li>Partner with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Marketing, HR, Legal, FP&amp;A, and third-party bookkeepers for international locations to ensure accounts payable transactions are recorded timely and accurately;</li> <li>Ensure all check runs, wire transfer payments, and ACH payments are handled smoothly;</li> <li>Reconcile vendor account statements and past due balances;</li> <li>Work closely with customer support team to issue customer refunds in a timely manner;</li> <li>Manage relationships with vendors and provide timely responses to vendor inquiries;</li> <li>Manage inquiries from internal business partners related to accounts payable;</li> <li>Responsible for the annual 1099 reporting process;</li> <li>Monitor, reconcile and properly code employee corporate credit card transactions.</li> <li>Review and approve employee expense reports in accordance with company travel and expense policy guidelines;</li> <li>Identify and implement processes that will allow the AP function to scale as we grow globally with an emphasis on best practices and strong internal controls;</li> <li>Participate in the monthly closing process, including the reconciliation of the accounts payable subledger, validation of accruals and reconciliation of credit card accounts.</li> <li>Support external audit and reporting requirements;</li> <li>Serve as lead on system implementation or enhancement projects impacting procure to pay cycle;</li> <li>Participate and lead ad hoc projects and other responsibilities, as assigned</li> </ul> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum 5 years of full cycle high volume accounts payable experience;</li> <li>Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or equivalent preferred;</li> <li>Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment;</li> <li>Works independently with a sense of urgency and be able to meet deadlines by prioritizing tasks;</li> <li>Ability to communicate clearly and professionally to all levels of the company and with external vendors;</li> <li>Excellent internal and external customer service skills;</li> <li>Team player with excellent time management and organizational skills;</li> <li>Exceptional attention to detail;</li> <li>Reliable and self-motivated;</li> <li>Strong problem solving skills;</li> <li>Knowledge of NetSuite and Concur is highly preferred;</li> <li>Understanding of basic accounting, including preparation of journal entries, expense accruals, prepaid expenses and completion of general ledger account reconciliations;</li> <li>Knowledge and thorough understanding of best practices and internal controls around vendor payment processes;</li> <li>Experience with automated Accounts Payable software a plus;</li> <li>Experience working at a high growth company preferred;</li> <li>Proficiency with Excel;</li> <li>Global/international experience desired</li> </ul> <p><strong>Benefits:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary and meaningful equity</li> <li>Employer paid medical, dental, and vision insurance</li> <li>Apple equipment</li> <li>Four weeks paid time off, 11 paid holidays, volunteer time off, paid parental leave</li> <li>Weekly catered lunch</li> <li>Stocked kitchen and beverages</li> <li>Company-sponsored happy hours and team events</li> <li>Turo owner matching and vehicle reimbursement program</li> <li>Turo travel credit every month</li> </ul> <p>We’re an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
