Blue car was awesome. It was super simple. Pick up and drop off were easy. The car was great for our trip.

Blue Car was extremely patient and flexible with us. We accidentally booked for the Reykjavik office but the folks at the Klefavik Airport office were kind enough to rent us a car and allow us to return it at their location. 10/10 customer service!

I was going to leave a pretty harsh review based on the pickup. But the return was a polar opposite experience to the pickup, so I've softened my stance somewhat. When we got into Keflavik airport, it was around 6:30am. Everyone is tired. It takes quite a while to get through passport control and grab your luggage. So the last thing you want is a lengthy process for picking up your rental car. Especially given that we prebooked the car months in advance. Well, that is not what happened. The rental car experience was by far the worst part of our arrival experience. First off, the rental car companies are all located physically separate from the airport. You have to catch a shuttle bus at the front entrance of the airport. It was freezing cold and there is very little shelter for those waiting. And the bus only comes once every 20 minutes. There were HUNDREDS of people waiting for the bus. We had to wait for two busses to fill up and come back before we finally got on one. The bus driver didn't say a word to anyone, and, despite having a bus that can lower, he did not lower it. So everyone getting on had to lift their heavy luggage up higher than necessary. Then when we got to the rental office, there were close to 50 people in a room built for maybe 20. We took a number and had 14 people in front of us. When we first got in, there was literally ONE staff member. Despite having booked a vehicle months in advance, we still had to wait 90 minutes before it was finally our turn. Once we did get served, the experience was pleasant. The gentleman who helped us was very professional and friendly despite what was obviously an abnormally busy and stressful time for him. When he brought out the vehicle, we were initially relieved. Only to find out the front driver side tire was low on air. He offered to go fill it up, an offer I accepted. However, I've filled up tires before. It takes me all of a minute. 15 minutes later he came back. I have no idea how it took that long to fill up a tire with air. Unless he was using a hand pump. On the positive sides, the vehicle itself was phenomenal. It was absolutely spotless inside and out. It was fully equipped, far beyond anything I've rented before honestly. The GPS worked flawlessly, the stereo system was excellent, it drove like a dream, and we had absolutely no issues with it for the 8 days we drove it. And, as I said, when I came back to drop the vehicle off, it was a completely different experience. There was no one in the office but me and three employees. They attended to me immediately, were very friendly, thoroughly but quickly went over the car to check its condition, and then sent me on my way. And it was then that I realized how much closer the airport is to the rental offices than it seems. It was a five minute walk back to the terminal. Honestly, do yourself a favour when you go and leave the rest of your group and your luggage at the terminal, go walk to get your car, and then drive and pick them all up when it's done. Because of how wonderful the vehicle was and how good they were to me on my return, I would be willing to give Blue another shot next time I'm in Reykjavik (and there will be a next time; this was our third visit). I may opt to pickup at their city location instead of their airport location. But it may also be helpful to not arrive on a Saturday prior to spring break for multiple countries. They seemed to be doing the best they could with a really abnormally busy situation.

Car was great! Small issue on pick up but they took care of it quickly and had us on our way. Will definitely rent again when back in Iceland. Thanks!!

Blue Car Rental was extremely helpful and informational with my rental in Iceland and what to expect/weather conditions/country laws etc. We were met promptly upon arrival and my car was fantastic, we loved it and it had everything we needed for our trip. Especially love all the new features on it like heating seats and steering wheel, back camera, snow tires, all wheel drive, automatic brights, and alarms for when your car starts to veer out of the lane. All came very helpful for our tour around South East Iceland. Thank you Blue Car!
