I need to drive to Scotland/Timbuktu/Australia, will this suit me?
Probably not! This van is ideal for moves within London, offering no congestion charge and enough range to travel to all corners of the cty. If you are going further it is still possible, but requires a bit of planning. In general, travelling along main routes and in cities there are plenty of charging stations, but in very rural areas there will be less available. If you need to cover a massive distance, I recommend hiring one of our traditionally fuelled vehicles.
Help! I've never driven an EV, and am worried about charging/range/driving?
Relax - driving an EV is much easier than a regular car - we will provide full guidance on how to use the vehicle, including how to charge it and where you can find chargers. It's much easier than you think!
What charging options are available?
All over the country there are rapid chargers - located in most towns and cities and motorway service stations. The charging speeds vary but they are very useful for topping up whilst you get a coffee or food, and in 40 mins you can usually add 100+ miles of range. They usually take contactless and have their own cables. There are also lots of slower chargers that use the cables in the van, these will take an overnight charge to fill the battery but are useful if staying somewhere. Many towns/cities have them in lamposts on streets and hotels sometimes have them. They sometimes offer free parking and or charging too! The van can charge off a domestic 3 pin socket like a laptop - but it takes about a day so I really don't recommend it.
Is the range guaranteed?
Most certainly not. The range is an estimate from the manufacturer. Just like a petrol car it will change depending on many factors. Some things that can SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the range are: -driving fast -using AC -using heating -cold/hot outdoor temperatures -accelerating hard/braking late It is not a guaranteed figure and you can find the range can be a lot lower than you might like. If you have any queries please ask. I will be honest and direct you to rent someone else’s petrol/diesel van if I think that would suit you better.

Not fit for advertised purpose. We booked in December for a February weekend trip and expected to drive 120 miles with 1-2 stops to charge the van en route. Within 30 miles the charge had gone from 75% to 19% and we had to get off the motorway quickly to avoid breaking down. Having reached out to Matt he said the van often doesn’t work well in low temperatures. He should not be hiring out the car in low temps in that case, and it should not be advertised as being able to do 120-140 miles “comfortably”. Matt was unwilling to help so we recharged the car and gingerly drove back to New Cross Gate, losing 3 hours. He gave us a different van and on our return we discovered the lights didn’t work and he told us to drove from Nottingham to London with fog lights only in pouring rain. Matt said he knew the lights were faulty in response to our panicked messages, he just didn’t care. Terrible host.
You chose a max 140 mile range van for a 300m trip over 2 days. I make it clear that this van is not for long distances and is for London. As there was an issue with the % gauge (now resolved) I swapped you to a diesel. During your journey bulbs blew, this does happen sometimes but I provide spares and a 2m video on how to change them. You were not able to but did not ask for free roadside assistance to help. I did care and tried to help but you were rude and then demanded £90 free fuel.

This is the second time I’ve rented a car from Matt. It’s reliable and affordable. Highly recommend 👍🏻

Did the job and the car worked.
Be careful of the mileage as it likely wouldnt do a long haul trip. Also try to charge it yourself vs paying as it's +£50 to have them charge it
Charging costs depends on the level you bring it back on, as you brought it back on 12% the fee includes an extra as it takes 15h to recharge from this level.
This is all clearly explained on turo’s website which I link to in my first message after booking.
