Description

***Home location is minutes from LAX! Save on delivery, airport and parking fees by getting a ride from LAX to us!*** This is the luxurious Laramie edition of the Ram 2500, which is a best-in-class heavy-duty pickup truck with a Cummins 6.7L Twin-turbo diesel with 660 lb-ft of torque. Payload of 2,280 pounds. Comes with 6’ 4” long box and Mega Cab with 6 seats. It is enormous inside and is ideal for long trips and families with kids. ***This is a 6-speed, manual transmission, 3-pedal car. If you are not proficient in driving a manual transmission car, DO NOT rent it*** This pickup is the last generation where you can get a heavy-duty truck with a manual transmission. These trucks are extremely rare, with only a few hundred sold in 2015. It almost certainly is the only full-size, heavy-duty, manual diesel truck for rent anywhere in the world. Please keep in mind that this truck is 10 years old and has a good bit of hauling. While the powertrain is in excellent condition and the truck is reliable and bulletproof, there are some minor scratches and dents all around. There's a good-size dent on the back roof that shows this truck has been used like a truck should. Inside, besides a rip on one of the seats, it's clean, fully functional, super comfortable and roomy, and can even be called luxurious. It has the following features: -remote lock/unlock (contactless) for the most convenient pickup and dropoff -seating for 6 passengers -leather seats -heated and ventilated seats -power seats -power folding & heated mirrors -cargo light -power sliding rear window -heated steering wheel -rear Park Assist -Full exhaust brake -premium sound with Navigation and SiriusXM w/ traffic -USB, AUX, SD, 12V, and power inverter -Tinted windows -full-size spare -front tow hooks -bed liner You can use the bed to haul stuff but please don’t abuse it (there is a bed liner). Normal wear-and-tear is OK; excessive scratches and dents are not. Please ensure the bed is reasonably cleared out. ========================================================================================== LAX DELIVERIES As of August 2023, all Turo hosts offering delivery to arriving LAX passengers must follow strict guidelines agreed to by Turo and LAWA. If you select delivery to LAX, Turo will collect an airport concession fee that goes to the airport and deliveries are limited to certain on or off-airport parking garages that guests access by using FREE shuttles from the terminal area. Turo activity on LAX property except for the designated parking lot is now strictly prohibited. When opting for LAX delivery, please carefully read the description of the service offered. NOTE: You will be responsible for the parking fee ($5-20) upon pickup, but I will pay for parking after dropoff. ******You can pick up the car for FREE (no delivery or airport fees) at its home location just 5 miles from LAX (Approx. $15-20 by Lyft).****** We are following Turo’s new policy, which you can read here: https://help.turo.com/los-angeles-international-lax-guests-Bk4OmMgj3 Any other Turo host that promises any other service for LAX delivery is in violation of Turo policy and can get you and the Turo community in trouble. Thanks for your understanding and feel free to ask questions after booking. ========================================================================================== You can add unlimited mileage, prepaid fuel, one-way trip or items like a camp chair, paper maps, radar detector, beach towel, and a child safety seat. You can add these in the “Extras” section. I will strive to provide you with the same value and service that I was provided on my first Turo rental. If this is your first time, just let me know and I'll put you at ease as best I can. Regardless of which car you choose, Safe Travels!

Guidelines

Please be courteous--leave the car in the same condition it started in, don't abuse it, and we'll be happy! Pets are OK--just don't leave a mess. Use a blanket to cover seats if your doggy is riding. You are welcome to enjoy the car, but remember that others (including myself) will need to enjoy it too. So please leave enough tire rubber for the next guy! Evidence of burnouts or excessive tire wear can be grounds for a damage claim. The car will always be cleaned inside and recently washed. However, because the car may have been sitting outside for a couple days prior to your rental, it could be somewhat dusty (L.A. air is not the cleanest!). See my FAQs for add'l information. Driving Tips I want to share some helpful tips for driving a manual transmission car so that you can drive as safely and efficiently as I do: 1. Always park the vehicle in gear, preferably 1st. Only engage the parking brake if on a grade 2. Always use 1st or 2nd gear when starting from a stop ( 3. Engaging the clutch (letting out the clutch pedal) should always be done in a smooth manner, in concert with an increase in throttle pressure. Never “pop”, “drop” or “dump” the clutch [suddenly release it]. 4. Generally upshift between 1,500 and 2,500 RPMs (ideal shift point varies by car) 5. Downshifting is OK but should not be used as a routine method of slowing the vehicle. Avoid downshifting through multiple gears (say, from 5th to 3rd) 6. Shift the car to neutral when stopped for extended periods, like at a stoplight 7. Don’t lug the engine, or accelerate when the gear is too high/engine speed is too low. Generally, the truck is safe to accelerate as long as the engine is above 1,000 RPMs. 8. Avoid unnecessary use of the clutch pedal. More pedal action means more wear-and-tear. 9. DO NOT rest your foot on the clutch pedal. 10. DO NOT rest your hand on the gear shift knob Slow acceleration, smooth shifts, and keeping RPMs as low as possible are the ingredients to efficient and long-lasting driving!

Faqs

  • Do I need to vacuum the car when I'm done?

Of course not! You drive, I clean. Even after long trips, leave it to me to freshen the car back up. The only situation where you should clean is if the soil is excessive--food droppings everywhere, tough stains, sand like you left the windows open at the beach, cat hair attached to every fiber of the headboard....Don't risk a cleaning fee in situations like these.

  • Can I use the FasTrak toll lanes?

FasTrak is an automated toll program in SoCal where you can use the special toll lanes for the designated fee (see electronic signs at time of use). The car has a toll sticker so you are welcome to use the toll lanes. But you are responsible for the actual fees of the tolls incurred during your rental. You can pay them online after the fact (recommended) or if not, I will ask for a reimbursement later--no surcharges will be added. I will provide a copy of the statement for your review if desired.

  • How do I pick up and drop off the car?

Most pickups and dropoffs will occur remotely, so we're always on YOUR schedule! The car will be in a dedicated parking spot. The keys will be in the driver side visor pocket and the car will be unlocked. When you are ready to drop-off, there's a dedicated, free spot for you. Return the key where you found it. Don't lock the door manually--instead, send me a message so I can fetch the car. Be sure to read the pickup & dropoff instructions for more detail on uploading a picture of your driver's license and photos of the car to document the existing condition.

  • Do I need to document the condition of the car?

If I do an in-person handoff, this is not necessary. We will document the condition on a form, as well as the odometer and fuel readings. You are certainly welcome to take pictures, too, to reflect the actual condition of the vehicle on hand-off. If I do a remote handoff, which is the norm and certainly the most convenient option for both of us, I do recommend that you take pictures and note the mileage and fuel level before setting off. Do the same when returning. Take photos of each side of the car, the interior, and closeups of any obvious damage you see. Upload all these pictures to the Trip Photos section of your reservation. Usually, I will have done the same before the start of the trip, too. Here's Turo's FAQ on remote handoffs: https://support.turo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001847367-How-do-remote-key-handoffs-work-for-guests-

  • What happens if I damage the car?

I understand that things happen. Any time you experience difficulty during your rental, contact me promptly. In most cases, if you have incurred damage beyond normal wear-and-tear, it will be easier and cheaper for us to resolve the issue together and not involve Turo. Turo supports hosts & guests working things out together. Read more about this here: https://support.turo.com/hc/en-us/articles/207963877-How-can-owners-and-guests-work-together-to-resolve-a-claim-

  • Do I need to wash the car when I'm done?

Of course not! You drive, I wash. Even after long trips, leave it to me to freshen the car back up. Now, if you took a mud bath or drove through an aviary, those would be situations where it might be a good idea to give it a quick rinse before that soil bakes onto the paint...

  • Do I need to re-fill the gas tank? What octane?

Diesel only! Just return the car with the same amount of gas it started with. Usually, that will be completely full. Here's Turo's policy: https://support.turo.com/hc/en-us/articles/203990730-Fuel-policy

  • Can I tow with the truck?

Unfortunately, Turo does not allow towing with any vehicles listed on their platform. Please read about their policy on Prohibited Uses here: https://support.turo.com/hc/en-us/articles/203990570-Prohibited-uses

  • How do I connect to the Wi-Fi Hotspot?

This truck has a 4G wireless hotspot that's active and included in the cost of your rental. Just find the network name 'uconnect' and enter the password 'uconnect8479' when prompted.
