Had to return truck in less than 1.5 hours, since I couldn't find a 2 5/8" ball with at least a 2.5" threaded shaft in the area. I called around to everyone RV, Tractor Supply, Home Depot, Uhaul, auto supply stores and off road stores.
I was given a partial credit and charged $110.18 for the time.
They rented the truck out again as I sat in the parking lot talking to the company about a refund. So they made double the money for the day.
When I returned the truck Dwayne said I should get a full refund it was up to the company. As I spoke to the company they said Robert/Dwayne had to give the refund.
The truck was nice, dirty on the inside with stained seats. But for a work truck to be expected.
At pickup the ball for towing was on the bumper, of the pickup I asked if it would work as good as a receiver hitch. Was told yes, I asked if another truck with a receiver was available, no.
I talked to Dwayne that I had a trailer with a 2 5/8" ball and a very heavy load of metal machinery.
Dwayne said I could purchase another ball, no problem. I left to go find a ball.
After buying a 2 5/8" ball that was standard shaft ..too short.
The mechanic said I'd pull the bumper off even if I found a ball that fit. The bumper was only rated 500 pound towing, which is nothing.
As I told Dwayne at pickup I had heavy metal machinery I was moving. Just glad the mechanic was honest.
Since I had no luck finding a ball that would fit I drove back to return the truck.
The idea of renting and ease of the process was good. Wanting to rent for my need and return without damage was my goal. If I would've hooked my trailer up I'm sure the bumper would've came off.
Lesson learned.

Thx for this feedback! It’ll help our company grow & do better at Turo! Towing weighs for a Dodge TAM pickup have limits. If you’d have phoned us to further discuss when you encountered the issue, we’d have discussed weigh limits. We routinely use this truck to tow large trailers flawlessly, the bumper is still intact. Lesson: more communication is better!!!
