Extremely Disappointing First Time Experience on Turo

I'm normally not one to write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my unpleasant experience as a first-time user of Turo. As a business owner, I fully understand the significance of feedback, and I hope this will contribute towards improving the service.

My wife and I decided to rent a Toyota Highlander from Turo for our annual beach trip. With our expanding family of three children, including a newborn, we wanted to test the Highlander before buying it. The whole experience turned sour when we met Michael, the car owner, to pick up the vehicle.

Although I was new to the app and still figuring out how to navigate it, Michael's reaction to my unfamiliarity was incredibly disheartening. Instead of offering help or guidance, he chose to berate me, undermining my ability to understand the app. Despite my apology and clarification that it was my first time using the app, he persisted with his insulting remarks.

The situation escalated further when a female friend of my wife arrived. Michael's condescension increased, as if he was trying to showcase his superiority because he owned the car and I was struggling with the app. Only when I revealed my status as a business owner with multiple successful ventures, did he finally change his tune and show me some respect.

This experience was appalling and left a sour taste in my mouth. The demeaning behavior Michael exhibited due to his initial perceptions of me was utterly disrespectful. While the Highlander was a great car, this incident has seriously deterred me from using Turo again. The service needs to ensure a respectful and supportive environment for all users, regardless of their familiarity with the platform or their status.
