Pick up and drop off was a little different but ended up working out just fine. The car itself was nice but the USB port wasn’t working so I couldn’t charge my phone which was a bummer. The car also made some strange noises here and there but probably just because it’s been used so much. Great commutation though and the car did just fine.

This is only my experience and happened to be my first Turo experience. 1) The day before my trip, Preston called to let me know there was body damage to the Tiguan I had rented. Rather than cancel my trip, he offered a Ford Escape for the first 2-3 days of the 1 week rental with the plan to give me the Tiguan when it was available. I was super appreciative of him making the effort to not cancel the trip. 2) The Ford Escape was delivered in a seamless way at Salt Lake City Airport. Preston was gracious and kind on delivery making it easy for me and my family (2 kids under 5). 3) On the way from the airport to Park City on the main highway, the car gave me an emergency Alert to pull over due to overheating -- we pulled over and the heat sensor came down. I gave Preston a call, he was immediately available, apologized and offered to pick up the car if we needed to leave it by the highway. He also informed us that this was known issue with the Ford Escape with a radiator issue that led it overheat when driving up an incline. To be clear, we were driving on the main, large highway -- nothing off the beaten path. We ended up driving the rest of the way to park city in short bursts, AC off (hot summer day) with the emergency lights on and pulled over every few minutes to let the car cool down while the emergency message flashed with two screaming kids. A 45 minute drive became 2 hours to be done safely. 3) I let Preston know and he let me know the Tiguan would be ready the following day. He offered to credit the first two days of the reservation. 4) Preston self-delivered the Tiguan the following evening. This was convenient. 5) I drove the car for the first time the following day; when I turned the car on there were two alerts on the dashboard -- a) Tire pressure sensor and b) headlight off sensor. I took a picture and messaged Preston, who called me immediately. He let me know he was aware of the Tire pressure sensor and that his mechanic had told him it was a faulty sensor and to not be worried. For the headlight issue, he suggested either driving it as is or if I felt uncomfortable to have it replaced and he would pay. 6) When I returned to the car from grocery shopping, I found a large crack in the front windshield and that the seat belt lock plastic had fallen off with scotch tape noted in an attempt to keep it on. I took pictures and texted Preston who told me he had noted a small rock chip in the windshield when he drove the car up that must've split into a bigger crack. He wasn't aware of the seat belt issue. 7) That afternoon (first day with the car, <10 miles driven), a neighbor near where I was staying rang our doorbell to inform me that our front passenger tire looked low on air. Roughly one hour later I came out to check on the car and saw a completely flat tire. I took a picture and informed Preston who immediately responded -- he said he couldn't be sure whether I ran over a nail but suggested getting the tire replaced. I let him know given the tire sensor was on when the car was given to me, it likely reflected the issue prior to getting the car. We debated this back and forth but ultimately Preston arranged to pick up the car. At this point, I informed Preston I wanted to cancel my reservation. moving forward in light of the issues with two consecutive cars with mechanical issues and the degree to which it was impacting my vacation -- at this point, I had spent more time talking to Preston than my family. 8) The car was taken care of by Preston. His mechanic found a nail with a lot of damage on the wheel. 9) I had spoken to Turo customer service and car quality and filed a ticket. I had photo documented everything. 10) Preston and Turo gave me a full refund for the trip. This was just my experience. Preston was professional, responsive and accommodating every step of the way. I have nothing negative to say about him as a person/ as a Host. Clearly, the cars I got did not satisfy my expectations or likely the expectations of any customer. My sincere hope is Preston will be able to offer better cars to customers with working cars (likely a function of the company he works work). My experience with Turo customer service was very positive and they were professional and quick.

Preston's response

We did what we could to try and make it right with Trilo. The previous renter damaged his car and dropped of 3 hours before his pickup. We temporarily swapped him so we could fix the car but our backup car had an issue and he demanded we get his original car ASAP. We did so explaining that there were some minor issues that we didn’t have time to fix yet. He didn’t care. The flat tire was likely his fault but we can’t be for sure. Sadly he was not willing to give us the 2 hours we needed to fix.

The car was very effective for our summer trip. The ac had a tough time in the extreme heat with the black paint and the glass roof, but it's a sharp little vehicle with a surprising amount of storage.
